Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI had my manicure today at 5th Avenue Nails, which is in The Shops at National Press (14th & G). Jenny, my manicurist, was defiantly better than my girl last week, so I will most likely go back there. However, there is a difference between the $12 manicure and the $25 manicure. We’ll have to see if I go back to the day spa services. And my polish. Oy vey! I used Essie Pearly White. I had some hope for this one since it was featured in Shop, etc this month. But it is so metallic, its trashy. This one is defiantly a goner!Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Great Eyelash Curler Hunt

When I began this journey, I didn't realize what it would turn into. In fact, I didn't think it would turn into anything. Back in the beginning of July, I bought the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, the holy grail of all curlers. From now on, I would have perfect lashes, but wait, ow!, this thing pinches. There was no way this product couldn't live up to its reputation, so I gave it (and me) some time to see if our relationship would get better; it didn't. Every morning for over a month, I would struggle with it. Finally I gave up on it and realized it just wasn't meant to be.

Last weekend, I took it back to Sephora, and exchanged it for the Sephora brand curler. Lo and behold, Sephora models their curler on Shu Uemura, and I had the exact same problems. Will this ever end?? Will I ever find a decent curler??

When I was sixteen, I found an amazing one at Restoration Hardware for $2, I know, I know!! But they discontinued it :(

After the Shu and Sephora debacle, I realized that the shape of these professional curlers is just too big for my eyes. Mine are very round and these curlers are very broad. So I thought that if I got a drugstore brand it might have a smaller expanse. Last night I picked up the Revlon curler at Walmart. This one sucks worse than the others.

Today ended up with another visit to the mall, so I put the Sephora curler back in the box and into my purse. This time I went with the Tarte Picture Perfect curler, and you know what? I think it found it!! I have mascara on, so I couldn't fully test, but so far so good, I think I found my curler and its all pretty and purple.

If for some reason, problems arise, I'm saying eff-u to curlers and getting the Sephora Heated Eyelash Curler, pinch-free guaranteed :)

On a non-beauty note: My better half got the 60GB iPod today, which meant I got the barely used nano he got and quickly realized wasn't big enough for him. So I'm listening to the new Danity Kane CD .::.loving my girls from Making the Band 3.::. while my iPod sits in its pretty new purple Coach case :)

Benefit is a Hit

I received my order from Benefit last night, which inlcluded eyecon and colorplump in hey sailor. I have always had pretty bad dark circles, it's genetics, thanx dad. So I'm all for fading them instead of concealing them, b.c concealor never gets rid of them completely. I don't know if this is going to work, I will have to give it a few weeks, but I did like the way it felt going on, very light and whipped feeling.
The colorplump was free with the luckybreaks promotion going on .::. Tell me I can get something free, and I'm all over it, this started at maybe 13 with clinique GWPS.::. Hey Sailor is a plum color, and I am loving it, it goes on very light, so it's not too dark, it has just the right amount of shimmer to it so my lips look amazing.
I didn't think the stick would be as jumbo as it is, so I will have to pop into Hecht's at some point to get the sharpener to go with it. If you decide to take advantage of the lucky promo, which I highly suggest you do, make sure that you pick up the sharpener as well. I really think I will be coming back to benefit a lot, I bought their high beam back when I was 16 and really loved it, and I'm loving my new stuff too. There is just so much on the market; cute packaging and naming is what grabs my attention, and benefit certainly has it.

Pink is my favorite color

I had my manicure this week at Natural Nails on G St. It's just your run of the mill nail salon, but paying $25 for a manicure was getting old. My color this week was Room with a View, and I love it!! It is such a pretty, light, sheer, pearlized pink, and its wonderful.

I also got the Limited Edition MAC Lipglass in Crystal Rose, a gorgeous shimmery hot pink. It reminds me of mark.'s posh, which is discontinued. I also want to get Oyster Girl and Underage, but since they are staples, I think I'll wait to get them until I am seriously craving some new gloss.

While in Hecht's, I got spritzed with Vera Wang Princess. I wanted this before I even smelled it b.c I fell in love with the bottle, but now I am just as in love with the scent. And my wonderful, darling husband bought it for me!!!! thanx baby.

I also scored the highly coveted, limited edition, sold-out Bobbi Brown Chocolate Eye Palette off make-up alley. I cannot WAIT to get this.

Love that lemony goodness

Sex Lux Pax

I finally got my Victorias Secret order today. It only took a week to get to me, but since I am so used to getting packages in 3 days, this one felt like an eternity.

Vincent Longo Trio in Du Cap~ A white, pink and purple shadow. I really like these, they remind me of the whole Palm Beach Princess look I did when I was 16, pink and purple shadow and lots of mascara. from the Sex Lux Pax series

Vincent Longo Trio in Untitled III~ so this was not the pretty bronze colors the site showed, but the lavender shades all the reviews talked about. I do like it, and the purple family looks really great with my blue eyes. I do need to play around with these to find the best way of wearing them. from the One Two Three series

**this is the color I wanted

Vincent Longo Lash Comb~ this thing is amazing. If you really like perfect lashes, I seriously suggest you get this. The teeth are metal and they are very pointy and sharp so that you can get all the little clumps out. This is not a tool for the faint hearted though, you could really poke your eye out!!

Kevyn Aucoin Liquid Shimmer in Pink~This stuff is pretty cool, it looks great dabbed on the center of your bottom lip, and I think it will go great with satinette. A little goes a long way. The tube is smaller than I expected, but this will last a long time.

Pout Lipslick in Gorgeous Girl~ this is such a pretty nude color. The only problem is that the applicator isn't getting out enough gloss and I'm not getting enough pigment.

VS Mirror Mirror in Pink Slip~ beautiful sheer pink gloss.

VS Mirror Mirror in Iceprincess~ a colorless shimmer, this will probably look best layered over other glosses.

Jaqua Pink Buttercream Frosting~ smells like a tub of Pillsbury vanilla frosting, yummy!!

**I haven't tried my Boscia Makeup Breakup yet.

All in all, I really like everything, I'm just disappointed I didn't get a bronze eyeshadow palette, guess I'll just have to find something else :)

Double Dose

Today I went to not one, but two salons.

Right after work I headed over to Fusion Day Spa to have my eyebrows waxed by Debbie Wexler. Debbie has been written up on DailyCandy. She explained that shape of my eyebrows was drawing the focus down and towards my nose. Instead we want the attention drawn up and out. So she tweezed from the bottom to lighten them up and thinned them out all over. She did a great job, and just with tweezers. She did use wax to clean up in the center so every last little hair would be gone.

My second stop was back in Alexandria at Allure Hair Salon in Kingstowne Center. My stylist was Samena. What a great girl. She did a great job on my hair and was a lot of fun to talk to. I wanted something sleek and professional so I cut it to just past shoulder length and added bangs. And my blowout is all sleek and shiny :)

Satinettte & Celadon

I went for my weekly manicure today at Celadon. My manicurist was Emma, and it was her first day working at the spa, AND I was her first client. o0o pressure. She did a fairly good job, gave a great hand and arm massage, but took too long polishing my nails. She spoke very little english, so I found myself listening to the conversation going on next to me, since I couldn't have one of my own. I did find out though that she has only been doing nails for 8 months, and it was obvious she was a newbie. One thing she did that I thought was really strange, was that she put cuticle oil on my skin after she finished polishing my nails... I really did like the atmosphere of the place, and their other tech, Mina, has been there for a few years, so I def wanna go back and have a manicure with her. I also used my Naughty N Nice polish. I haven't made my mind up on this one, its a whitish pink, or maybe a pinkish white. I'll give it a couple of days before I make my decision.

I was so excited to use my Chanel Glossimer in Satinette today, and I am totally in love with it. It is such a gorgoues color and I know this will be one of my favorites. If light pinks look good on your complexion, try this one out!! As for the Chanel eye cream sample I got; it was very nice going on, it felt like a nice fine layer, but being that I'm 22, I don't feel the need for $65 restorative eye cream. My money is better spent on one that will fade my dark circles.

TRAVIS WAS ROBBED

from the very first clip of travis ever(!) i was stunned by how amazing of a dancer he is. He become my favorite that first week and i have stuck with him the whole time. I have voted for Travis every single week and never voted for any other guy. I did vote for Heidi, but they were never in direct competition until the finale, and for that I voted for Travis only and like a million times. GAWD, i am so pissed off that Travis lost. I do like Benji, but he's just not my Travis. Plus, Travis is so much better suited for Celine Dion's freaky ass Cirque du Soleil thing she has going on with her VegasShow. I am sure that he will be showing up all over the place though. Maybe even on OC, since he looks just like Ben Mackenzie.

Oh, and I am so pissed that fox lied about when the DC tickets went on sale. I went to buy my tickets Sat morn, like I was told, but they were sold out. WHY?? B.c they actually started selling them on friday, bitches. I have to get tickets to that show. I am hoping more pop up, or they add a show, or maybe i should check out ebay, hmmmmmm....

Oh where, o where has my little gloss gone??

This morning didn't start off so well. I decided that I wanted to wear my VS pink slip, which was in my purse since I wore it on mon, but it wasn't there. I checked around the apt, and still couldnt find it, so I thought I'd check my desk when I got into work. It wasn't there either :( I'm assuming due to my flimsy bag, that it fell out on the metro. Good news: I have another pink slip coming in my VS order, Bad news: it was a really cute case with rhinestones on top(gwp) so my new one will be different. So I've conluded that the universe does not want me to have of the same gloss AND I am seriously in need of a good sturdy work bag.

Next issue of the day; back in January I got a body wave so I could have sexy wash n' go beach hair. Well now that I am in corporate, I feel the need for chic polished hair. So I am thinking of cutting it to little below shoulder length and doing side-swept bangs. (right now it is middle of my back). I also plan on blowing it out everday instead of leaving it wavy. mark. has a pretty cool dual sided brush that I have been wanting, that you can get if you buy two hair products (which I don't need). But since I really want the brush I went ahead and bought the anti-frizz serum and volume spray gel so that I would get my brush. Blow-outs here I come.

On a fashion note, I picked up a very sweet-looking cream angora sweater and tweed headband at Banana. I think the headband will look great with my sleek new do, once I get it.

I also got my gloss.com order, woohoo (VS still hasnt shipped, booo). I am looooving my Chanel satinette. It is such a pretty baby pink and I know I will be wearing this one A LOT. I also got my mini Spark. I am not much for red lips, but this one is very wearable, and after a little while it lightens to a hot pink. I like it, but I don't think I will use it that often. The free case and brush set is very cute. There are two compartments, one to store the brushes in and one to keep make-up. I am definitly using this in my purse, since it will keep me all organized. I got the Chanel eye cream too, but I haven't used it yet. There was another box waiting for me today, which was a makeup alley swap. I got Laurence Dumont Vanilla Chocolat, which smells very similar to Thierry Mugler Angel, my all time favorite perfume.

wow, a very eventful day in my little world of beauty.

Not Satisfied

Even though I had a major online shopping spree last night, the fact that I had nothing tangible to play with left me feeling very unsatisfied.

I took off to Sally Beauty Supply to pick up the Seche Vite that I fell in love with on Thursday. I also got one of those cool nail polish remover pump bottles so I can feel extra special cool while taking off my polish.

Since Bath and Body Works is next door, I went in to get some handsoaps that were on 2/$12 promo. I picked up the C.O.Bigelow Lemon Hand Wash since I got a sample of the lotion ages ago and thought it smelled divine. I also got the Savannah Bee Company Blackberry Honey Hand Soap that I read about on CapHill Barbie's Blog. It indeed smelled good, so I got that too.

The quest for new makeup begins...

Something came over me and I was compelled to buy some new makeup.

This months ShopEtc. had a coupon for a free gift with purchase from Gloss.com, so off I went. For years I have felt the need for a Chanel Glossimer and tonight was the night my dream would be realized >>doubly, I might add<<. I decided to get Satinette. With my purchase I got to pick out a free deluxe sample, so I chose another Glossimer, Spark, and being that I never finish off lipglosses I don't care that it's not full size. It's so exciting when your first Chanel Cosmetics purchase includes multiple items♥ I'm also getting a sample of Chanel Ultra Correction Eye Cream as well as my travel brushes and bag gwp.

But oh no, that wasn't enough for me. Off to Victoria's Secret where my angelcard gives me near-limitless buying power. I just had to take advantage of the spend this amount, get this off promo. First I thought ok, I'll spend $100 and get $15 off, but that ended up turning into the $150/$30 off. The Mirror Mirror lipglosses where on sale so I bought another pink slip, a great sheer/creamy light pink that looks good alone and over anything else, and iceprincess just because I love the name. To finish off the lipgloss spree I got Pout's Gorgeous Girl, which looks like this seasons nude lip color.

After lipgloss, my next love is eye makeup. I went for the Vincent Longo trio shadows in Du Cap and Untitled 3. Du Cap has lavender, pink, and cream shadows. The pic for Untitled had a pink, beige, and bronze, but all of the reviews I have read say that it is a trio of lavender shades, so I'm not sure what I'll be getting. I hope it's what the pic was. I also got the Vincent Longo eyelash comb. The teeth looked very thin and spaced out, so that it won't get all clumpy with mascara residue and will actually separate my lashes.

I also got the Kevyn Aucoin Liquid Shimmer in pink, don't know what I'll do with this, but it seems cool and I know I'll have fun playing with it.

I also got the Jaqua Pink Buttercream Frosting hand lotion. I have smelled this on other girls a million times. I am a sucker for any dessert scented products, and decided it was time I added this to my collection. Lastly, I got the Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil, which I have read about and have been wanting to try.

Now I am just anxiously awaiting the arrival of my packages. Once I get them, I will post reviews.

I .::.heart.::. Essie

For the past nine months or so, I have been working my way through a list of 50+ essie polishes that I have been wanting to try, and today I had a manicure and got my order from Head2Toebeauty.

I had my manicure at SkinBeautyLounge with Juno, and it was wonderful. It would have been totally relaxing if I hadn’t been worrying about getting back to work on time. I did leave with beautiful looking nails though.

Juno started with Sticky Base Coat from Creative Nail, than used Essie Heavenly Harp, and followed it with Seche Vite Top Coat. I was able to go back to work with completely dry nails and not smudge them due to typing, filing, etc., so I am now totally in love with this top coat and I must have it.

I’m not thrilled with Heavenly Harp, it’s a very pretty white, but not as luminescent as Marshmallow, so up on Makeup Alley it goes.

In my order were the last 13 polishes on my list, so now I am in the home stretch.
I got:
Allure
Delicacy
Dune Road
Glamour
Glorious Glow
Naughty N’ Nice
Overnight
Pearly White
Pound Cake
Room with a View
Spaghetti Strap
Real Simple
Vinyl Bikini

First Base base coat * which seems very similar to Sticky
Good to Go top coat * which came free with Real Simple
Plus files and orange wood sticks

So reviews to follow on those 13 polishes, and the salons I go to for manicures.

Bad Sales Lady

During my lunch break yesterday I stopped into Hecht's to pick up a Sample of Estee Lauder Lash Primer Plus ...I tore out one of those cards from Lucky. When I handed the sales girl my card, she was like "Hold on", and then went to ask her manager something. I figured they didn't have any and she was checking. She came back and said that in order to get the freebie I had to do a mascara consultation. Ok.... I wasn't thrilled with the idea, but it's always fun to have someone do your makeup and get free stuff, so I figured why not?? I sat down and she said "I don't want to take off what you have on, so I'll put this over it." I knew this was a bad idea, and I don't know why I didn't stop her. So she puts on the primer first. Mind you, I already have on two coats of mascara, I know, it was a bad idea. Then she puts on mascara. She had a very unsure hand. Not shaky, just very unconfident...great .::. rolls eyes.::. Needless to say, I left looking scary. Some how it managed to make my lashes look shorter. They ended very abruptly and gathered together at the tips giving me that wonderful spiked look. That's really the way to get customers to buy your products.

This morning I used the primer (on clean lashes) and I have to say I like it. It's no better than any other primer I have used, but it defintly gives them a little extra length and fattiness, which is what I like in my lashes

Inspired

While reading a few beauty blogs this weekend I was inspired to do two things:

1. Create my very own blog to chronicle my own escapades
2. Stop using only mark products.

The first one I just did.

The second one I'm working on: I have been a mark. rep for three years now, and for those three years I have only used there make-up. Needless to say, its been a bit boring as of late being that my choices have been dictated to what they decide to put out each month. No more!! I'm breaking free, getting back into the fun of mid to high-end make-up and the freedom to choose what I like.

So, I'm the coming days, weeks, months, etc. I will blog on my re-entry into the wonderful world of beauty products, enjoy!
