Hello anyone who still checks in here.....

I think I want to start blogging again. But not here. I still love my beauty products, but I don't really want to talk about them anymore (yes, we figured since you haven't posted in over a year). What I do want to write about is my new little crafting obsession. I eagerly check my google reader constantly in the hopes that the blogs I read have a new little project posted that I can ogle and ponder how I can use it as inspiration. And I wanna join all those McLinky parties!!

But I need help!! I need a name and I don't know where to go, what site to use to get a decent blog layout.

So if you are reading this, and you are probably the only one, any thoughts?

My Stepmom by Zoya

My Stepmom, Laurie, has had a strong influence on my beauty development ever since she met my dad and I when I was 8. She had a much larger make-up stash than my mom and aunts, and I soon started to get all kinds of hand-me-down make-up, from department stores, natch. Hmm maybe that was when my need for high-quality/high-quantity began......
Now we talk about the new products we have found. I like to younger, funky brands (MAC), she likes the more classic, refined ones (Bobbi Brown), so we always discover new things. But we share a deep, mutual love for Chanel and we both loooove Glossimer in Satinette.

So when I saw that Zoya came out with a shade called Laurie, and it had the same pink quality as Satinette - it was kismet. I bought a bottle for each of us.

I was expecting this to have a sheer quality, so I was surprised that it is really more opaque. It is still pretty close to being a nail version of Satinette. I've only tried it on my toes and I think it would look even prettier on my hands. And of course, every time I wear it I will think of my stepmom.

Easy to Love

I finished trying out all of the Essie In The Mood Polishes I bought and I am really excited to share what I thought about the last two with you.

Hard to Get - I was expecting to really like this one and I wasn't disappointed at all. This is a great take on what I refer to as Barbie or Bubblegum Pink. It has all the pop you would expect, but it is toned down wonderfully with a smidge of gray (this season's power player). This subtle tweak makes the color look really grown-up and it also adds a bit of a matte quality, which I think works fantastically to make this girlie color come off as current and chic.

Looking for Love - In my snapshot review of the line, I said this color sucked, was streaky and I was trashing it. Well.. alls fair in love and beauty and I had to give it a chance before casting its fate. And I am so glad I did!!! Yes, there is still the streaky factor to deal with, but I'm in love with the color. It's a great lavender both opaque and translucent at the same time. Total oxymoron, I know, but it really is. I got the best application on my pinkies and ring fingers, and the worst on my thumbs, so I think it needs some TLC to prevent the streaks.

My final verdict on In The Mood for Spring 2008 is an A+. All of the colors I tried were great. The only one that I won't be keeping is Secret Affair. The color is beautiful, it just doesn't work for me. I'm also interested in trying Looking for Love layered over Great Expectations. As far as my favorite goes, it is hands down Hi Maintenance.

My Zoya order is on the way, so in the next few weeks I'll be reviewing Laurie (from the Blissful collection), Sabrina, Loretta, and Rose (from the Purity collection) as well as Heather, Remove+, Intense Hydrating Therapy, Half Time Polish Drying Accelerator, Anchor Base Coat, and the new packaging of Cuticle Repair Balm.

Secret Affair

For my manicure this weekend I used my new Essie Secret Affair and I'm a little sad :(
I really love the way this color looks, but it is a bit too warm for my skin tone. I'll have to console myself with how much I love Hi Maintenance and remember that I also have all of the other new colors from the other salon lines to try out.

Hopefully I can pass this polish on to a friend whose skin tone it will complement.
So Long Secret Affair, I'm sorry it didn't work out.

Sweet Escape

There are a few service businesses that I really want to find. One -a restaurant that is appropriate for anything from an easy dinner, to a romantic evening, to an important celebration. I also need to find a tailor that can I can count on to do all my basic alterations as well as more in-depth changes. And I've been dying to find a local day spa where I can take care of basic nail maintenance and indulge in massages, facials, and interesting treatments.

This weekend I found my spa! I noticed their sign soon after moving to the area last year, but it is in a shopping center that needs a face-lift and the signage just says "skin/nails" - so even though it would always come to mind, I never ventured to try them out. Then my stylist/colorist said that they send the salon's clients there all the time. So I started to think about it even more, and Saturday I decided I was going to finally check it out and have a manicure. Why hadn't I gone sooner?!?!?

The unappealing storefront makes for a very private environment. The spa is small, but well thought out. A short wall keeps clients hidden when someone walks in the door - the front desk right ahead of you. the main room has two manicure stations and a banquette. Two pedicure chairs are tucked behind another half wall. The private rooms are off of the main room, which works for this boutique spa. There was another hallway to the other side of the entrance (i didn't get to check that out).

While the larger, more well-known day spas have their benefits, the one time I went to Red Door, I was a bit disturbed by how impersonal it felt, and the shared locker room gets creepy when there are more than two women in there. The worst are the "serenity rooms". I know they are supposed to be relaxing, but I get stressed waiting for my person to come get me - and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

So, In addition to loving the atmosphere - the prices are great. My manicure, which included a paraffin treatment was $22. A full day (4 hours) of a premier facial, deep tissue massage, spa pedicure, hydrating manicure, and spa lunch and gift - for only $250!!

And the best part is how wonderful the staff is. My manicurist wrapped my neck with one of those warm pillow things, brought me a goblet of water, and actually paid attention when grooming my cuticles(rather than blindly cutting them all off). The manager was super sweet, we chatted a bit and she sent me home with a bag of samples.

I'm looking forward to going back soon and trying out their full menu.

Polish News and Reviews

I had to get my Essie polishes this weekend - the urge for fresh colors was killing me!!
I love the mini-packs that come out with each collection - such a great way to try multiple colors. The pack has 3 of the shades I wanted - Secret Affair, Hi Maintenance, and Hard to Get. The 4th shade included is Lots of Love - the completely crap-tastic lavender that is really streaky and a bit too cool, giving a bit of that "death" color. Into the trash it goes. I also bought Great Expectations in the full size bottle.

I swatched them all - Lots of Love - see above, Hard to Get is a more sophisticated and warmed up Barbie/Bubblegum pink and Secret Affair has a really pretty sheen.

I did all then later on with Great Expectations. The color is such a great new shade - very different from whats out there and extremely chic! I also used Hi Maintenance and I LOVE it! It is one of the prettiest pale pinks and it adds the perfect touch of elegance. I love the name being a hi maintenance gal, but the color is totally lo maintenance - so great!

Being that my nails are in the best state right now, and I also am not the greatest at getting a good application, my nails are bare right now. I want to paint my nails again tonight with Hi Maintenance, using only one coat and no base or top. I think it could be a very simple, easy, and easier to maintain way to achieve a polished look when I don't have time to get or give myself a mani.

While at Ulta, I also got to see the Orly collection - Meringue and Cupcake both stood out to me, they looked like a great creamy white and pink, respectively. I'll wait until I try out all the other polishes on my list before trying these.

An update on the Zoya collection: There are actually two spring collections. The second one is called Purity French Collection. I actually like this one better than Blissful and there are three colors I would like to try: Rose (soft metallic sheer nude), Loretta (pretty super sheer pink), and Sabrina (soft sheer pink). The other three are Purity (french tip white), Jane (natural sheer nude), and Sari (gorgeous semi-sheer pink).

OPI India is now available and the Little Jewels mini collection has my name all over it. It has two of the shades I am into - Black Cheery Chutney and Indi-a Mood for Love, plus Lunch at the Delhi - a coral shade, which I never would have picked for myself but I think will be cool to try, and RapiDry Top Coat.

Nail Varnish 360

When I started this blog 1 1/2 years ago, I was on the tale end of my quest to find the perfect polish. I was working my way through all of Essie's pale colors to find The One. I couldn't settle on just one - but Limo-Scene and It's in The Bag were at the top of my list, along with the classics - Ballet Slippers and Mademoiselle. Shortly after that Black Satin hit the scene and started a frenzy. But I declared that I would not follow the trends, and I was sticking with my white-pinks.

Sometime around Feb/March 2007 I lost a bit of my bravado and became very intrigued by the vampy nail. And then Essie made me cave. The Fall 2007 Glamour Girl Collection came out and i fell in LOVE with Material Girl. And I loved the look! So I went and got both OPI Lincoln Parks and a few other darks so I could experiment.

Of course now that I have fully embraced the dark colors - Spring is all about my first love - the super-pales - AHHH!

After my initial WTF!?!?! I am getting really excited for all the new colors I want to try. And now I'm up for trying brands other than Essie.

Yes, my search is complete. I bought my full-size product today.

The Korres Shampoo/Ojon Conditioner miracle day was a total fluke. All three days I gave it failed to live up to the first time. And while got the Ojon to work well, my hair needs a lot and it is too expensive to be running through so fast.

And when I paired the Korres Shampoo with it's counterpart, it still left me wanting a bit more.

So it was the Ojon Shine and Protect Shampoo that consistently left my hair feeling good and looking shiny. This product didn't stand up and scream "I'm awesome", and since I like me some loud products, I wasn't giving it enough credit. But through my whole search it remained consistent. Always shiny, always soft, manageable and poof-free. I had bought a full-size bottle of the Korres Silk Milk (which was the winning conditioner and my early favorite) since a sample didn't seem to exist. So now I am set.

Both of my rejects: Korres S & Ojon C, have half of the product remaining, and I am curious to test them again after I use my selected products for a good while.

Friday I am off to my family for the holidays until New Year's Eve. I'll be enjoying my new products, but being away from home doesn't allow for proper testing....

So, when I return, I'll begin testing leave-in conditioners. I have my little tube of phyto 7 and I got a sephora made sample of phyto 9. Next time I am in sephora I'll get some phytosesame and anything else my "research" finds so that I can do a thorough testing. I'm leaning heavily on Phyto b.c leave-ins seem to be their thing, but I would like to have some other brands tested as well.

Save The Best For Last

Korres Sunflower and Vitamin F Shampoo finally arrived on Thursday night and Friday morning I had the WOW day I was looking for.

Even more surprising was how well the Ojon Shine and Protect Conditioner worked with it. My hair felt great after rinsing and it was so soft and smooth after blow-drying. I had totally written off this conditioner, but now it is staying in the race as a contender.
I had an equally great experience when I used the Korres Silk Milk conditioner.

So, is the Korres shampoo totally amazing, or did it reap the benefits of going last? I'm not sure if a weeks worth of using the other products left my hair in a better conditioner so that the Korres got an advantage in performance.

After completing Phase I, I have three combos that require further testing:
Ojon Shine & Protect Shampoo with Korres Silk Milk Conditioner
Korres Sunflower and Vitamin F Shampoo with Ojon Shine & Protect Conditioner
Korres Sunflower and Vitamin F Shampoo with Korres Silk Milk Conditioner

Before I start testing those, I want to finish up what I have left of the Phytojoba (This one fell out of the race because of the design of the bottle and the lack of any wow-factor). I think I have 2 or 3 uses left.

Then I'll use each of my combos for 3 days, starting with Korres Sham and Ojon Cond, then Ojon Sham and Korres Cond, and finishing with both Korres.
Hopefully when I finish this, I will have made my decision. Stay-tuned.

Save Your Skin

All of the articles on combating winter skin issues were never of any real use to me. Bring on the cold!! My skin stays fine.

That was the case, until this year. All of a sudden - I'm dry and itchy and I don't like it. Plus I do not have an arsenal of products to protect me. Only the bits I have gleaned over the past years and my general obsession with all products, has prepared me to find products to correct and protect. And I would like to share two fab products:

Caudalie (are you surprised?) Gentle Cleanser is a light creamy cleanser that removes all makeup and impurities. Obviously it smells and feels awesome, but the best part is that after you rinse it off your skin doesn't feel dry - it actually feels like you just moisturized - all because of the amazing ingredients:
grape-seed polyphenols (OPC)
cornflower water
oat milk
sweet almond and jojoba oils, shea butter
coriander, sweet lime, lemon, guaiac wood, sweet orange, vetiver, sandalwood and hybrid lavender...

The bottle is huge so it will last you all winter and well into spring.

The other product is Ahava Dermut Intensive Hand Cream. My hands, especially my nails and cuticles, have been painfully dry and cracked. I try to heal them, but it's really hard for me to resist picking at them. I was looking in my draw-o-goodies for something this morning and I came across a sample packet of this cream. After one use I am hooked. It felt so good going on, deeply moisturizing, and I also felt it was protecting my hands from further damage. There is also a foot and a body cream in the same line.

Phyto & Korres x2

I still haven't received my korres shampoo, so I used the phytojoba with the korres silk milk for the second day in a row.

On tuesday, I washed, rinsed, and conditioned. The hair was ok, but not as soft as I'd like.

Today, I followed Phyto's instructions, and left the Joba on for 2 minutes (i washed my face) then, rinsed and conditioned. This definitely made a difference. My hair felt much softer today. The one thing I really do not like about the the Joba is the bottle. It has a crew top, and when it comes to dealing with shampoo, the flip top is really the only way to go.

Since I can't continue testing tomorrow, I will repeat the Ojon Shine & Protect Shampoo. I'm pretty sure that between this and the Joba, I'd go with the Ojon - tomorrow will finalize this.

More like PhytOh-No!

The combination of Phytojoba Shampoo and Ojon Shine and Protect Conditioner was dismal.

In the shower, everything was going good, I even thought the Ojon was doing a better job. The comb-through went fine. But that's were it ends.

Once my hair was dry, all hope faded. My hair was poufy, kinky, and frizzy. I was so bothered by my hair that I had to put it up in a ponytail all day. I think this is going to be the worst combo I test. I can't imagine my hair being worse than it was today. Let's hope the Korres pairs better with Phyto tomorrow.

The Competition is Getting Stiffer

I just finished drying my hair from my post-ballet shower and I now give you round two:

In the Shower: My thoughts on the Ojon shampoo haven't changed. The scent of the natural oils that are in the shampoo are strong and the deep smell isn't "feminine". The Korres conditioner also had an odd un-girly smell. I also found it a bit hard to squeeze the bottle. After rinsing it out, my hair felt soft, clean and smooth.

The comb-through: it took a little extra work because I had two medium sized tangles.

Post-Blow Dry: Now we are talking. Day two of the Ojon shampoo and this is working it. My good hair half is looking shiny, the fly-aways were better, and my highlights seemed brighter. The Korres conditioner seems to have better results with my bad hair half. While still looking dull compared to my good hair, it was hanging much straighter than usual and seems to be less kinky.

After testing both conditioners, Korres is in the lead. I'll be using each two more times so it's still anyones game.

Ojon Lady is a Hairetic

This morning I used the Ojon Shine and Protect S&C.

The shampoo had a good lather and there was nothing that struck me as bad about it. I tried to use a half-dollar size of the conditioner, but it didn't seem to be enough for my hair. After I rinsed it out, I felt that my was a bit rubbery.

Out of the shower, it was fairly easy to comb through my wet hair and get out any tangles. I blow-dried it using my usual products and I was pleased with how it turned out.
The top half of my hair will show the results of all these products, but the bottom half, having been permed 2 years ago, is in quite a state, and it always requires a little bit extra.
With that, all of my hair felt really soft, and the top was looking pretty good. The bottom was it's usual self, so I added the Leave-in glossing cream that came with the set. My hair wasn't transformed, but it was ready for a day at the mall.

And so, while walking through Sephora to get to the Caudalie section (i bought new face wash) I stopped to look at the phyto products to see if there were any mini sizes. Well, who happened to be next to be but a rep from Ojon. She starts her pitch and I pipe in that I already have stuff. She then showed me the Leave-in cream and I told her that it was actually in my hair right now. Well she was offering some for my fly-aways. It's really bad when a sales person offers you a product to fix what that same product didn't do the first time around. So she asks me what else I use, and then follows up by telling me she uses both Shine & Protect and another S&C set they have. >Now every magazine, stylists, etc. advises everyone to shampoo as little as possible. Shampoo strips your hair of its natural oils and of any color added to it. < Well she tells me that like her, I should wash with the shine and protect, wash a second time with the other one, and then condition. WTF, wash my hair twice in a day? This lady was old and I am sure she grew up in the time of lather, rinse, repeat, and thought that smoking was good for you. She obviously never got the memo on hair, what else is she doing like it's 1955?

Unfortunately, the fact that Ojon is letting this woman represent them has put a sour taste in my mouth. I've already decided that this combo won't be the winner, it just didn't do anything to wow me. And when a rep (no matter how stupid) offers the same product you're already using, that speaks volumes.

The Hair Diaries

My research on shampoo and conditioner begins tomorrow. I already had the phytosesame shampoo from Sephora, I bought the winter essentials kit which has 2oz bottles of the shine & protect s&c and a 2oz leave-in glossing cream (more of a blow-dry cream than a true leave-in conditioner). The Korres shampoo is on it's way from an eBay seller and I just bought the Silk Milk at Ulta. I haven't finished buying the leave-ins, but those will get tested a little later on.

Keep your eye out for more posts in the next two weeks as I report on how all of these products work.

Part A - Obtain samples of all products:

I have the phyto shampoo.

I was watching an ebay auction that had the shampoo with a few other products. The auction was for $1 but they wanted $10 for shipping!! No one bid on it, so I offered the seller $7 for the shampoo sample and the shower gel sample (korres mint tea) including shipping. They agreed and said they would relist the item so I could buy it. I'm waiting for the relisting, hopefully it works out.

I found a site that had the Ojon 4-piece Shine and Protect kit listed for $0. I added it to my cart and it looked like I could get it for the cost of shipping. Checkout went through and $5 pended to my account. Then I saw the back order on the bottom of the page. The charge is still pending and I haven't heard anything from the site, so we'll see what happens. Otherwise I'll be on ebay or I'll buy the $25 winter essentials kit.

It seems that a sample size of the silk milk doesn't exist, so this might be the one full-size I have to buy - ebay for a good deal!!

I'll get the ojon conditioner same as the shampoo

Since the Phyto 7 came with the shampoo, I'm adding it to the mix. Ebay is my best bet for the Phytosesame.

As for the Ojon, the 4-piece kit comes with the revitalizing mist and the glossing mist; the 3-piece kit comes with the glossing cream. So the products added to the mix depend on which kit I get.

The search for Good Hair

A quick follow-up to previous posts:
While my Lauren Hutton purchase was the ultimate disappointment, I have found two superb alternates. Avon Planet Spa Napa Valley Body Polisher - This scrub is great, it smells like white grape juice and it feels great. I also love Bliss The Love Handler - this firming serum feels so good going on and drys very quickly so getting dressed is no problem.
The Hair Tonic I won: The scent reminds me of my Grandmother, I'm not sure why, but it smells like her bathroom. It volumizes well, I just like a little so my hair isn't flat to my head. I like mousse better, but some days I don't feel like having the stickiness on my hands and this is a great alternative.

My hair has been very dry lately and the problem is with my shampoo and conditioner. My research (a.k.a. online shopping) for products based on natural ingredients for colored and dry hair has got me debating on three different S&C sets: Korres Sunflower & Vitamin E Shampoo and Silk Milk Conditioner, Phtyojoba and Phtyosesame, and Ojon Shine & Protect. After picking these three, I did the hair consultation quiz on Beauty.com and these were the three recommended for me. Now I just need to try them out and see which ones are the best.

I bought the Phyto Dry Hair Set To Go from Sephora and used it last night. The Phtyojoba poured out of the bottle really fast so I ended up with some crazy lather. Good to know that a little goes a long way. I love the subtle coconut scent. I finished with the phytojoba mask and then Phyto 7 leave-in conditioner. After air drying for a bit and blow drying, I couldn't believe how soft my hair felt. There are still plenty of individual nasty coarse hairs, but when I pull it together in a pony tail it feels so lush. The one thing I don't like about Phyto is that they only use leave-in conditioners.

Any thoughts on the Korres and Ojon? I am trying to hunt down some trial sizes so I can test all the products before buying full size bottles - know where to find some cheap?

Blast from the Past

There is only one thing worse than having to work on a Federal Holiday: Not having any mail to come home too :(.

So, another day without my Lucky, but the hubbs told me I got a package. Hmm, I tracked all of the packages I have coming this morning and nothing is out for delivery today. Well I check the return address on the box and it says "Garren New York". Hair care I never ordered? Wait, no!! It can't be the Allure product that I won - Last DECEMBER.

Oh yes, that's right. Check out this post from March were I mention that I am waiting for my surprise gift.

They need to change 12 weeks to 12 MONTHS. Seriously, a year? WTF?!?!

So anyway, the product is Designing Spray Tonic. Another lie Allure told, my product was worth $50+. This goes for $26.

It is supposed to add volume: if it's really good or bad, I'll let you know

Not So Lucky - Secret Ingredient

The Beauty Department at Lucky Magazine, run by Jean Godfrey-June, is my favorite for checking out new products (Allure - you might do the best articles, but Lucky beats you on products). Two of my favorite columns are Jean's Beauty Closet - her personal picks, and Secret Ingredient - you get an intro to a cool ingredient, what it does, and a slew of products to find it in. For November its the Kukai Nut aka Candlenut - a super-duty moisturizer. The product that really got me was the Lauren Hutton Green Coffee Body Scrub (part of a trio). Lucky said "The scrub in this exfoliating treatment kit is phenomenal: spiked with coffee and brown sugar, it's wildly invigorating." I bought the $35 kit(scrub, massaging soap bar, and body serum) from HSN.com.

So Thursday night when I got home from the gym, I hopped in the shower to scrub up. There were some pretty specific instructions, and I did them as follows:
1. Use the scrub ankle to shoulders - rinse.
2. Use the flat side of the soap to lather (it exfoliates, too) ankle to shoulders.
3. Turn the bar and use the massaging nubby side knees to hips (more exfoliation)
4. Turn the bar again and use the contoured side on torso and arms (exfoliation again)
5. Rinse.
6. Out of shower - apply body serum to calves, thighs, buttocks, hips, abdomen, and upper arms.

The kit is supposed to be a firming treatment, and my skin definitely felt super smooth after I ex foliated it three times, but the products weren't great, and you can get the same results from more enjoyable products.

My thoughts:
Scrub - what a waste!!! The 4oz. jar is all but gone after one full body use. I have enough left to do one area of my body, and then it's totally gone. The scent reminded me of the Origins Modern Friction face scrub that made me gag. And the "wildly invigorating" claim from Lucky - I don't know what they were talking about. This is the product that made me want to try this kit and it is the worst of the bunch.
Try Instead: Caudalie Merlot Friction Scrub - feels awesome, smooths sooo good, and the light mint essential oils are the perfect amount of tingle. The 3oz mini in the trio will last you 3-5 uses depending on how big of an area you scrub. The full size jar is 8.8oz so you can definitely get your money's worth.

Soap - There was nothing bad about this bar, but it isn't available on it's own.
Try Instead: Bliss Serious Seaweed Cellulite Soap - I haven't tried this yet, but bliss usually does not disappoint. L'Occitane also makes a Grape Exfoliating Body Soap - it doesn't have massage nubbies, but it is awesome none the less.

Serum - OOOeeee. This stuff is so mentholated that skin felt like it was going to tingle right off. I like some tingle, but this was too intense. Maybe I used too much? Unlike the scrub, I do have enough of this left to try it again and see if I like it better.
Try Instead: This is the first body treatment product I have tried so I don't have any alternatives. The three brands listed above all have their own alternatives, so check those out.

The Review You Have Been Waiting For

But first - Life often brings about some unexpected changes. Here are my Top 3:

1. Work - I always had peaks of busy times and slumps of nothing to do. What started out as a peak last month doesn't have an end in sight. I think the cycles of my job are done. I am now entering "not just a job" territory, and I don't have the time I used to for my hobbies.

2. Shopping Habits - The cosmetic binge of last year is subsiding. After getting all that craziness out of my system, I still like to see whats out there, but I don't have the same urge to buy every single new thing. This is also leaving me with less topics I want to write about.

3. My Body - Sometime back in June, I mentioned that I was starting to work with a Trainer. Well, we still meet twice a week, and I am pleased to announce that I have hit the half-way mark of my 60lb. goal. I am doing the Trifecta of weight-loss: diet, exercise, and diet pills (all natural - for appetite control and motivation). I feel and look so much better. I know the second half will be harder to get off since I no longer have all that excess to just melt away. This first half took about 4 months, and I am giving myself 6 months to reach my goal weight. My birthday is my deadline.

When I was in my teens, I couldn't see myself getting fat until after having kids. I also didn't appreciate the body I had. (but what teen girl does - or can by society's standards?) I had this notion that 24 was the perfect age. A real adult, fully developed and still youthful. I thought 24 was the age when you reached maximum beauty, and if there was some kind of Death Becomes Her style potion, I would use it to be 24 forever. By 19, I was full-out chubby and things only got worse. I cursed myself for wishing for 24, when 16 was the best I ever had. I'll be 24 in six months. Reaching my goal weight by then would be so amazing. I could prove my 16 year old self right and my 19 year old self wrong wrong at the same time. Someone said to me that maybe I waited all this time to lose the weight in order to do it for my 24th, which would mean something extra special to me. Maybe she is right. Could my little thoughts have been a personal prophecy? Did I unknowingly lead myself into making 24 the monumental age I thought it would be? Anything is possible, right?

I also promised a Review last time I posted, so here it is:
Caudalie Gentle Buffing Cream ($34). I use this twice a week in the shower. The scrub is nice, light, and effective. There is no fragrance in it, so the scent comes from the ingredients, and whatever they are, it smells like Coppertone to me. I definitely recommend this product, along with every other Caudalie product I have tried. They have never irritated my skin, or left me with a side effect result. They have only taken me closer to having amazing skin.

In addition to this, I also use Sauvignon Scrub($35) once a week at night. This product contains the same scrubbing beads as the gentle buffing cream, but in a much higher concentration. My skin has never felt as insanely soft and smooth then it does after I use this. I followed this with a spray of the Grape Water ($8 or $13) before I put on moisturizer.

I think using a combo of both scrubs is best, but if you only get one - make it the Sauvignon Scrub. The results are more dramatic, and while I haven't tried it, you could take a small amount of it mixed with regular cleanser, and get a lighter treatment.

My other suggestion is to buy the Scrub Trio instead of the big tub. The trio is available at Sephora and is the same price as the tub. The sauvignon mini will last a while, and you also get the try the merlot and cabernet scrubs which are for the body. I like the merlot texture and scent better, but they are meant for different parts of the body, and that cabernet scrub does for my thighs what the sauvignon does for my face.

If you are comfortable with the price point of this line, start using it!!!

I found the product that would end my laziness/busy-at-work induced slump and get me blogging again. I've had slumps before, but this was one was worse: I even stopped reading all of the blogs on my Blog Roll. I guess you could say the Beauty Gods stages an intervention.

My desire for the Limited Edition leads me into buying things I have no true need for. They are just so pretty!! I was going to get P.S. Kiss - the LE Peter Som did for Lancome, the next in the Pout-a-Porter collection. But then I saw some pics and it wasn't really the color I was going for.

Beauty Gods bless Jean Godfrey-June, the beauty editor at Lucky, she always finds the products I like I would die without. Page 144 of the October issue featured Imitation of Christ for Smashbox's lipstick. It's deep burgundy with a dash of plum. o0o just like my Material Girl nail polish I love.

I went to Smashbox's website to check it out and saw that they made only 200!! Add Limited Quantity to Limited Edition and you get zero hesitation on my part. I added it to my bag, along with another burgundy lipgloss from the sale that had been lingering in it, and promptly checked out.

The color is called Enchanting, and it truly is. The Sila Silk formula is amazing. I think I might become a Smashbox lip stick devotee. It goes on so silky, it feels better than a gloss. It also makes applying a super dark lip stick foolproof.

The one thing hampering my dark lips is that I can't just slap on a touch up during the day. It actually requires a few minutes, two products, and lots of blending. And did I mention that my boss (the guy one) came to my desk while I was mid lipliner needing me. I covered my mouth with my hand and explained my momentary freak status. He, being the awesome boss he is, let me turn my back to finish and we continued when I returned to normalcy. But I do not want a repeat performance of this, so I now have to take my touch-ups to the bathroom.

It seems that there are still some left. The color is part of the regular line, but this one has a gunmetal finish on the tube. Unfortunately there is no IOC anything on the tube, just on the slip that went over the box:( So if you want the color, you can always get it.

It's Been So Long

Please forgive, I just didn't have much to say.

I've been trying to be good about not buying excessive make-up, and so far so good. I did do a make-up alley swap for MAC lip-liner in currant. It's a deep burgundy, and I think it will help me get that super dark look I want. I have been playing around with my new colors and I just feel so weird!! It doesn't look like me. I think after wearing them a few times, and having a fall outfit on, will help me adjust to this new look.

I needed a shower-cap upgrade, because my hairlines was getting soaking wet. I ordered the bathina cap from benefit (it was on sale!) but I'm not impressed. Maybe I have a small head or something, because I am just not getting a snug fit and it allows water in. With my purchase, I was able to use a promo code from Lucky Mag to get a free bluff dust - this is a yellow powder that counteracts redness.

I needed to replace my thick black eyeliner because mine was a year old. I went for benefit BadGal. I love how the fat pencil makes it really easy and fast to get a smudged look. You don't have to smudge, the thickness of the pencil does it for you.

And because I am getting a little nutso on the dark lip thing, I picked up a burgundy lipstick on sale for $8.

I'm also eyeing two dark glosses at smashbox that are on sale. I was going to buy them on yesterday to get the Let's Do Lunch product, but it was green eye shadow. I'll have to see what they do next week.

Today was the last half-friday of the summer, so Shannon and I went shopping to make the most of it. First stop: J.Crew - our favorite. I tried on all kinds of stuff, but only bought the madison stretch chinos in charcoal, and the super skinny bangles in navy and plum. There's not much point in buying anything else now. It will still be a few weeks before the weather is right to start wearing it all, and by then it will be on sale.

The other thing I got was the second product of my new skin care regime: Caudalie Gentle Buffing Cream for my morning exfoliation. Reviews once I start using it.

Allure, You Have Failed Me

You can download a copy of the Editor's letter from the September Issue and Linda Wells will explain why she put this atrocious representation of the human race on her cover this month. But it is a really dumb reason, and I don't understand what she was thinking. I think I am going to have to rip off the cover, the cover photo-shoot promo page, and the associated article, and then burn them, before I can go on to read the issue.

And why September?? Why does the most important issue of the year have to be marred by this creature? Are you mad at someone Linda? Is this a big "f*ck you" to your readers?

We may need to send you to rehab with your girl, because you have to be on something to put >gasp< Britney Spears on your cover.

And she said putting Paris on would be the first sign of the apocolypse. Seriously? In what world is Paris the bigger offender over Britney?

I Had to Have It

Oh yes, I got my bottle of Covet.

Over the summer, I happily discovered that I love the smell of magnolia. So when I saw in the August Allure that SJP's new perfume had notes of magnolia and musk (another fav), I couldn't wait to take a whiff.

I'm not big of celebrity perfume lines, but I adore SJP, and I feel that her celebrity-endorsed lines are more about her being a style icon than just a name (ahem britney spears - I would never buy anything with your name on it, you swamp trash which I despise)

Any who, I got a sample last weekend at Ulta and I knew this would be my new addition to the perfume line-up: players include: the MVP Thierry Mugler Angel, the pinch hitter Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, and last years rookie Vera Wang Princess, plus other body sprays.

While I love my shower gel and body lotions to smell like something I whipped up in the kitchen, BBW Pecan Pie and Cinnamon Bun Heaven and VS Slice of Heaven for example, I really like my perfumes to be deep, sexy, sultry scents. I don't want someone to say I smell nice. I want to smell intriguing, incredible, so, so igood, but not nice, never nice. (This excludes the summer - I take a three month hiatus and do nice clean scents)

Covet is exactly what I like. Miss Parker even describes the scent as being more aggressive and bolder than her first scent, Lovely - which fell into that nice category.
I'm thrilled she did some more dangerous, more glam, for all us girls who love wearing head to toe black, kohl-rimmed eyes, and sexy rumpled hair. Which is why...

The Ad Campaign is the way it is. I heard a lot of bashing on the print ads and commercial, but please take a step back with me. Let's remember that Parker is an ACTRESS. She is not herself in these ads, she is playing an obsessed French Fashionista. Note that the girl I described above is either french, a francophile or europhile, or a New Yorker. This is not a perfume for everyone, and the ads are geared towards the women who will wear this scent. I think the ads are genius. She breaks through the glass to get to the bottle with her Loubs for crissakes. And the contrast of her in the pristine white ball down in a jail cell with a bunch of dirty, grubby women is fantastic. So please stop judging the commercial on a superficial level and calling it deranged, because if it were a movie trailer, we would all be lining up to see it opening night.

Painful Mascara

Back in my mark. days, I used Scandalash mascara all the time. I had an unused tube that I just started using and WTF?!?!

Last night, after the gym, I rubbed my eyes a bit and my lashes hurt!! My mascara was glueing my lashes together.

And then it happened again just now.

It feels like I have thick glue on my lashes, it is horrible.

I'm going to throw it out, and use my sample of Definicils Pro. I don't like that one because it has a curved brush, but at least the formula is good.

So, this weekend I will be buying Dior Show Unlimited in Blackout. I have been wanting to try this for a while, but I am trying to be good with not buying too many products.

FALL-ing all over myself

I am so eager for Fall to begin, I'm bordering on obsessed. This weekend I was able to get the basics for my fall make-up wardrobe. Now we all know that I never stop buying the new and pretty things. But I was able to get the bold nail and lip colors that will serve as my foundation and focal points for the coming season.

I've been refining my clothing choices for a while now, and yesterday I began purchasing. I am more excited for this season than I have ever been. It think this is mainly due to the fact that I have finally honed in on my personal style. It is amazing how coming to this point makes everything much easier. I can see the big picture and how everything will fit together, and it feels amazing.

What made yesterday The Day, was a Banana e-mail in my box. "New Styles Added to the Sale" it said. And what would you know a pair of pants and a button-down from my wishlist were marked down.
I got those, plus the 3 Back Button Sweater and a Cute V-neck top, all on my new Banana card - Yay!!

Then on J.Crew today, a blouse that had gone out of stock came back, and only in my size and the color I wanted. I have gotten burned waiting too long on the j.Crew site before, so I didn't hesitate to buy this. (Side Note: I can't even post a picture because it has already sold out!!)

Now all I need is for this heat-wave to break. And I also need to find a fall handbag.

Just Like A Bad Husband

I can't believe I have been on here sharing all my beauty craziness with you for a year now.

Ready, Set, FALL!!

I cannot WAIT for the weather to start dropping so that I begin sporting my new fall look.

Friday, I went into Pure Beauty and got my coveted bottle of Material Girl. It isn't the blackest purple I was expecting, it's more of a purple-tinged deep wine color. Still totally gorgeous. In my new love for deep nail colors, I'm heading over to Ulta tomorrow to pick up the dark delights mini 4-pack. The set includes Lincoln Park After Dark, Lincoln Park After Midnight, Espresso Your Style, and Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ. I have been an Essie devotee because she does whites and pinks like no ones business. But when it comes to the darks, I know that I need to check out OPI.

I also went a bit bizerk at Nordies. I got my Jezabel from Lancome. The colors are actually the same even though the site made them look different, and they are the red color. It's such a shock to see my self with red lips, but I am really liking it. I also got the lipliner in Enchantment from the Fall collection. It's great because it has a brush on the other end.

My gift with purchase is fab too. My favorite is Beach Plum Juicy Tube. I can get my dark fix with the easy application of a gloss. It also has Amande Sucree Lipstick, a really pretty deep bronze, Definicils Pro Mascara, Bi-Facil, Star Bronzer (super pretty), and eyeshadow quad with filigree, impress, best dressed and faux pas.

I also went to MAC to finally pick up my Novel Twist purchase. I went for my Rushmetal Pigment as well. I was going to get CocoMotion, but when I tried it on my lips it looked like poop. I ended up getting Gold Mine instead, and got the clear lipglass refill so that I could make a gloss with the pigment. Right now it is a really pretty sheer golden color. I might see how it looks with more pigment added to it. It's really cool how easy it is to make a lipgloss with pigment, and it turns out awesome. If you have one you really like, try this!!

Even though I am loving this whole dark lip thing, I'm still addicted to pale pinks, and I got Lightswitch from the 3D collection. This is the kind of pink I dream of. Shimmery without visible flecks, pigmented but still sheer. The perfect light pink to make my lips look full and sexy. This is going to look amazing with a seriously dark eye. I can't wait to do this look tomorrow.

My last Nordies counter was Chanel. Tulipe Noire is supposedly the Black Satin of this season, so I had to see it. Unfortunately they didn't have any. I saw a picture of it when I got home, and since it has shimmer in it, I know I won't like it. I did try on Lotus Rouge, which is a beautiful red, but it wasn't special enough for me to pay $19 for it.

If you remember, a few months ago I said I was going to use up the skin care products I had and then only buy L'Occitane and Caudalie. Today was my first full-size purchase: L'Occitane Shea Ultra Rich Eye Cream. I love how gentle and moisturizing this product is. I don't need to spend the $$$ yet on anti-aging creams, but this one should keep my skin nice and supple, and thus keep the wrinkles at bay.

I'm also gearing up for my fall wardrobe, I've pick out some pieces from Banana and ripped out all the things I want from the J.Crew catalog. 70 degrees, I'm waiting for you...

Ch-Ch-Changes

Sorry I haven't posted in so long!! Hubbie and I took a long weekend to visit his family. Got back to work and I have been swamped!! I'm still not done catching up, but I had to carve out a few minutes to post.

It seems that every season there is one object that just sets my tone of style. Last fall, it was all about purple. This spring/summer my pink "Palm Beach Princess" shoes led me down a very Lilly & Preppy path.

This season is bringing about some major changes in my style. I adore black clothing for the colder months. I think a black monochromatic look is so chic, especially for the office. But when it comes to my lips and nails, I have been a die-hard the paler the better kind of gal.

But the winds have changed, and I think maybe I am maturing a little too.

My defining moment product was seeing Essie's new Material Girl on AllLacqueredUp. I have been intrigued by the whole dark polish trend. I even bought a bottle of black polish, but it felt too harsh. Then I saw this blackest purple color and I knew I had found what I needed. Plus the name is just too spot on for me to pass. The color isn't out for another month, but I can't wait for September to begin my transformation into some serious vampy glamour, meow!!

A week after having my moment with that polish, I found a lipstick in Allure that looks like the perfect compliment. Even more weary than I am about dark nail polish, I have been adament on the whole red lips deal. Lancome's Jezebel is a black cherry like color, and I think this is the year when I will feel confident wearing such a bold color. Two of their lipsticks have this color, one looks more red, the other more purple. I will have to try on both before I decide which one suites me.

So, Rain Rain come my way, take away this Heat today. Because I can't wait for Fall!!

In A Flash

I had to make a few returns yesterday. I bought what I thought was a L sweatshirt from VS, but when I got home I realized it was an XS. I was going to exchange it, but I went to a different VS and they have a very condensed store because of a renovation. (Side Note: Pentagon City Shoppers: The New VS is going to be the size of 6 normal stores)

I also had to return a bra & pantie set from Nordies - I was getting some pretty bad spillage.

Now you know being in Nordie's I couldn't leave without seeing Flashtronic and Rush Metal

I really like Cocomotion pigment from Rush Metal, but I didn't want to buy too much stuff. I think next time I am wandering the beauty floor, I'll find myself back at MAC buying this. I also plan on getting a clear lipgloss and turning this pigment into a super pretty semi-sheer bronze gloss. EXCITING!!

What I did get, is By Jupiter Mineralize Eye Shadow from Flashtronic. It's a really pretty golden bronze with lots of depth because of the marbling.

The Skinfinishes are also really nice; Global Glow is a great bronzer. I have too many to buy another, though.

I also got a new brush; 239 eye shading brush. I don't think it is limited edition, just featured with the Rush Metal collection.

So my recap on these two: The shadows, finishes, and pigments are all great and you will definitly find a color you love.

The glosses and lipsticks that accompany these were really blah, pass on these, but do check out the lippies that are a part of the Novel Ties collection. Or do like me, and turn a pigment into a lipgloss.

I Open at the Close

My weekend was an all-consuming Harry Potter Mega-Fest.

11:00pm Friday Night - Arrive at Borders, can't believe it really is this packed.
Get in line to get my number for buying the book - I am 661.

11:10pm Friday Night - Continue making my way to the back of the store, trying to find the end of the coffee line.

11:15pm Friday Night - Get in line for coffee; chit chat with the girls behind me.

11:55pm Friday Night - Girls offer me their extra number - 144, which is 500 people ahead of me. I glady accept.

12:15am Saturday Morning - Arrive at the coffee counter, order a Cocoa Trio. Realize that they are serving Butterbeer. Yell for barista and ask, oh so sweetly, if he would mind making me a Butterbeer instead. This causes mass confusion, but I do get my butter beer.

12:20am Saturday Morning - get into the third line of the night. This time it's to actually buy my book.

12:30am Saturday Morning - I am the proud owner of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

1:00am Saturday Morning - Get into bed and begin reading.

2:00am Saturday Morning - Time for Bed.

11:00am Saturday Morning - Wake up. Make Coffee.

12:15pm Saturday Afternoon - Get ready for beautification appointments.

1:15pm Saturday Afternoon - I have my highlighting appointments. I read while my color is developing - it's rude to read while she is standing there doing my hair.

I've really been on myself lately about how many products I have. I buy more than I can possibly use and I feel that so much is going to waste. I also feel that at a certain point I get overwhelmed by my choices and revert to only using a few of the many items I have.

I also love the idea of developing my own Signatures. Nail Polish, Perfume, Lipgloss (yeah, right) etc. I think having a signature is so sophistacated and chic, it carries with it that je ne sais qoui.

I know that if I had a perfume, it would be Thierry Mugler Angel. But there are too many other scents out there that I really like, and I can't give them all up just for Angel. I also have about 5 polishes that I could pick from, but I'm not ready to commit to any one of them.

So I ponder: is my dilemma a symptom of my age? As I mature will my tastes refine to the point that I can be satisfied with just one item? Or is it just my personality? Will I forever feel the need to have the next new thing and never get throw away an empty bottle?

I keep telling myself to stop buying more beauty products. I have more then I need, but there is always something new drawing me in.

So yesterday, on a shopping trip to get my hubby some new shirts, I found myself over at the MAC counter. Nordstrom is having an exclusive collection called Novel Twist. You can't actually buy anything until Friday, but I was able to pre-order the Tan Lip Palette and Groundwork Paint Pot. All the packaging for this collection is super cute. All tweedy with crazy embroidery. The paint pots are awesome too. They are cream to powder eye products that can be worn alone or used as a base. The color I got falls in line with all my favorite colors and is a great foundation for a smoky eye.

At Sephora, I got a new lash comb (mine fell apart) and the Oscar Blandi Exfoliating Treatment. This product just seemed so cool. I used it today, it wasn't as gritty as I thought, but it did feel really invigorating. I also discovered Dior's Jersey Pink gloss. I didn't let myself buy it, b.c i have way too many pink glosses. But as soon as I finish one, I will replace it with that one.

I got lured by the Victoria's Secret sale as well. The 3 for $27 Beauty Rush found me with the entire collection of Slice of Heaven (smells like cake batter). 2 for $10 on the beauty rush glosses got me another slice of heaven as well as I want candy. And because they have repackaged the garden collection, the old bottles were 3 for $12, so I got three Love Spell sprays (the best fragrance VS makes, if you have never tried this, run and get a bottle). There were also some super cute little glitter glosses and I decidedto go with Kiss and Tell.

The Sephora purchases and MAC were planned, but the VS was sooo not, when will I ever stop being lured in by the beauty fairy?

On a more positive note: to make room for all the new stuff I can't help buying, I cleared out the glosses I never use and I will give them to Caitlyn. She is getting so much stuff!!

We are having a heat wave here in Washington....

Just wanted to give an update on my weight loss. While the pounds aren't astounding (about 5 in 5 weeks) The inches are making me really happy. I was able to buy my last pair of pants in a smaller size and my skirts are starting to get big on me!!! I can't wait for them to get totally huge so I can take them in for an alteration.

Lovely Sunday

As far as Sunday's go, this was a pretty good one. I was able to get in pretty much everything I needed to do.

Got up about 9:30 and had an hour to check email/blogs before my hubby got up. Then I went to the gym (holy crap, the equipment at my apt. complex SUCKS compared to the gym at work) and got in an hours worth of cardio.

Followed up by getting ready.

Our first stop was Bed Beth and Beyond for me and Barnes and Noble for him. I decided it was finally time I got a coffee pot. I got the Hamilton Brew Stay or Go; it has a thermal carafe and two to go mugs which you can brew directly into. Yeay, i can finally make my own coffee on the weekends!! I also got a garbage pail for his bathroom, a paper towel dispenser, a brush to clean out my coffee grinder, and ocean linen spray.

Picked up my dry-cleaning and went for my mani/pedi. I always get the spa treatment for both. I think the standard is a total waste. They give you a quick run with the pumice, file and remove cuticles, do a quickie massage and polish. With the spa, i get two different scrubs, a mask with hot towels, and a much lengthier massage. So worth the extra $15. Well, sitting next to me was a young girl, probably having her first pedicure. The girls at this place are always trying to up sell you, asking if you want to upgrade to spa or need additional services. The young girls pedicurist asked if she wanted a spa pedi, and them nodded to me to show her what she would get. She said yes, not realizing what she was agreeing to. Once I sat in the chair for my mani, the mother came over and started freaking out. She was all "She didn't know what you were asking her, she doesn't have the money to pay for this" and the girl is just sitting there like a deer in headlights; poor thing. I'm happy that she made that mistake, she got to a experience what a decent pedicure is like. She also looked to be at that age where she needs to realize that she must put time and effort into her appearance. I feel awful for girls with no beauty role model, and hopefully I helped to give her a step down the right path. Unfortunately, she did not demure on the razor, as I always do. Those things are icky, illegal in New York, and should always be refused.

I then stopped into Sally to get that Curl Relaxer the girl at Ulta told me about. So super cheap, only $5.99. I read the instructions when I got home, and there is no way I can do this to myself. Kira, want to come over next weekend and play with my hair??

Smooth It Out

Yesterday, while my husband was looking for video games in Best Buy, I went over to Ulta for some hair products and nail polish. I love that those two stores are right next to each other, its perfect.

I wanted to see the new Essie collection in person. I'm especially interested in Atlantis Pearl, I just need to see its shimmer content. For my nails, a little is nice, but any more is garish. Well they had all the colors but that one. They only had it in the mini 4-pack. But I couldn't test the shimmer and I don't want the other three colors. So, next time.

I also wanted to try a new styling product to get that beachy, sexy, celebrity hair. Do they seriously hot roll it everyday and then use texturing products, or is there something I am missing??

I found a very knowledgeable sales girl, turns out she is actually a stylist. We discussed my hair ideal, and I was so misled. I told her about my body wave that is now 1 1/2 years old, that now my hair is half straight have curly, I want the above mentioned style, my curls are too tight to be waves, what styling products will help.

She told me that no styling product can do what I want unless I chemically alter my hair. GASP!!! Then she told me that there is this very light product that they sell at Sally's called Frizz remover. It won't get rid of my curl, it will just loosen it. Perfect. So today, when I run around the shopping center for all my errands, I will pop in Sally and buy that stuff. She also suggested using more smoothing products, and to STOP using the curling stuff. Those products are doing the opposite of what I am trying to achieve. The only thing I ended up purchasing L'Oreal Texture Smoothing Fluidity Shampoo and Conditioner. We will see if all this turns my hair into gold. And if not, at least my highlighting appt. on the 20th will!!

G-Town Shopping

Kira, a friend of hers, and I went shopping in Georgetown yesterday. I was over ambitious in wearing my new Cashmere T-Shirt. I should have known that for someone like me (always warmer than everyone else, cranking up the A/C) even lightweight cashmere won't work. So I'm taking it to the cleaners today, and then packing it in tissue paper until the fall, when I'm still comfortable in T-shirts HAHA!!

At JCrew, Kira found me a pair of maroon and gold fluer-de-lis flip-flops. I have no idea what I have that will go with them, but my love for the French Flower made sure there was no way I would leave without them. I also saw the cutest pair of rainboots - hot pink with bulldogs. Once I loose some more weight and my calves slim down so that I can get these on, they will be mine .::.esp. since bulldog is my husbands nickname.::. I was also able to check out the Starfish Cardigan that I love. It is so soft and super thin, as soon as it goes on sale, I'm buying.

I wanted to go to Gap to see all the new fragrances they put out. I have been searching for a really clean summery scent and thought they might have one. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did get PeaceTrain, the lavender based scent. I also bought a tank top so I could change out of my sweater.

But the most amazing part of the night, shopping wise, was stepping into Body Shop. I wanted to pop in for two seconds to pick-up White Musk. I had this a few years ago, and it is a beautiful clean scent. Since they are repacking the line, all the old bottles were on sale. I got two of the big bottles for only $8!!! I also got the body cream for $5 and an almond body lotion for $3. Nothing gets better than that!

I finished my Rock the Shadow yesterday with MAC Beautiful Iris. This color is the perfect purple; just a few shades darker than lavender. After putting on one layer, I decided I wanted a little more impact, so I added some more. Then after doing my mascara, I got spots on my lids that I couldn't get off, so I dusted a bit more on - perfection!! Well, once I saw myself in the bathroom mirror at work, I realized I was wearing wayyyyy to much shadow, oops!! I toned it down a notch, and made a mental note to go easy with this one!!

Now I get to put all my shadows back into my tray, tuck the ones for Caitlyn away until the end of the month, and enjoy using some new found colors.

I started this on May 24 and ended on June 29 - that's 37 days of eyeshadows!!!

Chocolate is always Yummy

For RtS, I used my Avon Big Color Eye Pencil in Chocolate. It looks like they have repackaged this since I got mine. I love doing RtS because of what I find lurking in my make-up tray. This shade never gets used, but that is going to change!!

I put it on by drawing a few lines across my eyelid. Wow!! that is some serious brown. But obviously when using cream shadows, you must blend, blend, blend!! What I ended up with was a gorgeous darkening of my lids. The color looks so natural and blends so well with my skin tone, I'm in shock. I love a smoldering eye look, and this defintly achieves it.

By using my pencils on the angle, I am able to apply it as a shadow with the flattened side, and then flip it over to use the point as a liner. I lined the outer corners of both my bottom and top lids, then finished off with two coats of mascara.

I can't stop looking at my eyes today, I am in love. This is defintly going to be on my permanant rotation.

For my lips, I used Chanel Glossimer in Seashell, which is the perfect complement to the shadow. I really feel a no-fail go to look in the making. This is what I live for!!!!

Julia from AATP sugguested that I use one of the grey shades from my new BB palette with the MAC Pigment in Golden Olive. She was at Macy's the night I bought it.

The result is pretty cool. By putting Rock underneath, the crazy greeness of golden olive is toned down. I like how it makes it more wearable. Thanks for the tip Julia!!

Only two colors to go!! Tomorrow and friday, then we are done!

Shades of Grey

I had intentions of posting while in New York, but that didn't happen. I used all the colors in my new Bobbi palette while I was gone. The palette offers such a great range of greys and I enjoyed my smoky eyes. Once I use it a bit more I will post what I think of each color.

For RtS today, I wore a Sephora Jumbo Liner in #505. This lavender is too light for me to use as liner, so I thought I would try it as shadow. I don't care for it. The color fades when it isn't in a heavy line. I think this is another one for Kate.

The summer after I graduated high school, I worked as a sleep away camp counselor. Camp actually started before my graduation, So I came home for 2 days for my ceremony and party. Like most schools, mine didn't give out diplomas until the monday after. I was back at camp by then, my mom forgot to pick mine up, and I never got my diploma. Well, my sister did go yesterday, and I came with her, and guess what? I finally got my High School Diploma!!! I DID graduate, i just never got my piece of paper.

Packing Light

For yesterday's RtS I used my new Chanel Ombre D'Eau in Sand. I was saving this for my next site visit, so that my make-up would hold up in the heat, but I didn't need it. I was in the air-conditioned building the whole time! Anyway, the color is still gorgeous, like a liquid version of my Smashbox Wrap. I wonder how the two would look layered....
I also took a tip from the Chanel instructional video for this product, and used the pointy tip to line my eyes.

Today I am wearing mark i-marks in Corset/Cake - the pink and charcoal duo from last spring. I love using the charcoal shadow for a subtle smoky eye.

I'll be flying up to New York in a few hours my sister's graduation. I wish I had some plane beauty for you, but the hour-long shuttle flight doesn't affect me more than my daily commute to work does. Oh well, the only thing that sucks is the liquid ban. I would carry on everything, but I have to check because of my products.

I am trying harder every time I go anywhere to pack lighter and lighter. There isn't a way for me to scale back on my shower and hygiene products, I just decanted them into little bottles and jars. I did go totally minimal on my make-up though. Here is what I packed:

After three phone calls to my local Macy's (Metro Center), I finally heard the magic words: "The Bobbi Brown Stonewashed Palette is IN!!"

I called Shannon immediatly and we headed over to pick ours up. (I really miss working directly over Macy's, there was nothing better)

And WE LOVE IT!! I think this will sell out even faster than the chocolate palette. All the colors are so pretty. There are four neutrals, plus a pink, silver, and brown/black. You really can't go wrong with these colors. I also picked one up for my boss. Macy's is down three palette's now.

I won't start using this until friday I think. I'll continue my RtS tomorrow and thursday. I am going to pack only this palette for my trip over the weekend; I am so happy I was able to get it in time!

We have three RtS's to cover, lets go!!

Backtracking to Sunday: I wore Kevin Aucoin The Pink Liquid Shimmer, so technically not shadow. I never use this as a highlighter so I thought I would throw it into the mix. There is nothing wrong with this product I just never use it, and I don't see myself changing that. But I will hold onto it just in case. I wore it with MAC Fluidline in Macroviolet, and put my mark. starliner on top of that.
I went to the mall that day too, and stopped by MAC to see the C-Shock line. My god, this stuff is intense. No way would I ever wear those colors. They might look good for runway, music video, etc. but in real life? I don't think so.

Yesterday: I wore MAC Seedling, this one was from Strange Hybrid. It's a very dirty taupe color. I wore it all on its own with black shimmer eyeliner. I think color works better when blended with others to do a neutral smoky eye. It's just too dismal on it's own.

Today: I am wearing Laura Gellar Eye Stay Duo in Champagne/Mocha. I got this mini version as a Sephora Freebie. I think this is only like the second time I have worn it, and I DO NOT like it!! The stay part is right, but it drys so quickly you can't properly blend it. And I couldn't take off my mistakes with out taking off the concealer underneath it too. I was thinking of giving this to Caitlyn, but now I think it might be wise to trash it, I don't want to give her something that will make too much of a mess. Speaking of Kate, I got the tote bag I ordered for her last night. It is soo frickin cute. I will have to take a picture and post it when I get a chance.

Fantastic Shadow

For RtS today I used Bobbi Brown Champagne Shimmer Wash. I acquired this shadow by mistake. My step mom always has all kinds of cool expensive make-up and whenever I go home, I can't resist taking a peek in her bathroom. I never know what new products I'll find that I want. Latest example - Chanel Glossimer in Seashell. It was also because of her that I got Satinette.

Back to the eyeshadow. About two years ago, I was checking out hers and I dropped and smashed it on the tile. Since she was gone for the day, hubbie and I went to the mall to buy a new one, so that when I told her she couldn't be pissed off.

Turns out that she had two, and she was so surprised I actually trekked to the mall to get a new one, she told me to keep it. Hence, the story of how I got my first piece of Bobbi.

For today's look I was inspired by Jessica Alba in Fantastic Four (we saw it last night). She had some pretty awesome Invisible Woman eye make-up going on, added to the insanely blue contacts she was sporting. Her look was lots of black liner and mascara, super creamy champagne colored shadow, and really cool blue liner/shadow on the outer corners.

So to give my self a bit of this look, I used my mark. starliner in Strobelight. The color is a sparkly, purpley blue, very fitting with the name. It's definitely not as intense as Alba's, but it's perfect to add a little something to a day look.

Big News To Report:
Miracle of Miracles, my manicure lasted a full week!! The rejuvacote has made my nails so healthy I can't believe it!! The nail girl used *I think*, Creative Nail Sticky base coat and Seche Vite top coat which I know added to the longevity of my manicure. I am just so thrilled that I finally have nails I can admire. Thank you so much Julia!! Your advice saved my nails life.

I also did some shopping today. While hubbie went to Best Buy, I made my first trip into Ulta. I'd been to one years and years ago, but haven't gone since then. It's pretty amazing how well they cover every area of beauty. I get pretty overwhelmed in those mega-stores because I just want everything. I usually end up buying very little. I picked up the store's brand of lavender hand cream (my new favorite scent), Bourjois 3D Cosmic Lip Gloss in Rose Charismatic - a really sparkly light pink (such a weakness for me), and while on the check-out line I spotted John Frieda's Curl Around Shampoo, Conditioner, and Dream Curls Spray in a set for only $10. I love these products, as well as the Straight Ahead line. Nothing makes my hair straighter or curlier than these two products. I try new shampoos in between, but I always go back to using these because they really make my hair look its best. I am making this my Summer Must-Have #2 - whether you want to go straight or curly, these will keep the frizzies away.

Box of Chocolates Finale

I finished using the last two shades in my BBCP today; caramel toffee shimmer and chocolate. I used caramel lash to brow and chocolate in the crease. It's a great sultry look.

This was one of my first major, have to have it purchases after I stopped using mark. last summer. I know that Bobbi has a cult following, but I don't go nuts for every new thing she puts out (like I do for MAC).

But her new shadow palette, Stonewashed Nudes, looks amazing. I will definitely be checking it out, most likely buying. You can read all about it here on Makeup Bag.

It's Cold in Washington Today

Today's RtS is mark's i-glimmer in hushed, the lavender shade. This product is crap! In the pot it is really hard to get any color on my finger because the product moves around like I'm pushing it, instead of rubbing my finger on it. It is really greasy putting it on, and even with primer I am getting major creasing.

I knew this about the product, and that is why I never use it. Yet I continue holding onto things because I am a cosmetics pack-rat. All other things I throw away with reckless abandon, but not my beauty products - weird factoid.

So anyway, the Revlon Lavender Unleashed is practically the same color. Therefore I have no reason to hold onto this product. Caitlyn will have fun playing with it, I'm sure.

As you can tell by the time I am posting this, my work load has finally evened back out. Still busy, just not insanely.

Working on a Deadline

My RtS has such an appropriate name today: Deadline. I say this, because I have been having one busy work week. The shadow is by Smashbox, it was my first Thursday Lunch Freebie.

The color is a very pretty light pink, it looks pinker in the pan and mellows out to a pinky-beige on my eyes. This is the color I would have wanted 14 Karat Rose to have been.

Some other random things:
We ran out to B&N last night to try and find the fifth season of CSI. I went over to Starbucks and got the Oreo Dream Brownie, because it looked so goooood. I must try to remember that while that stuff looks amazing, it hardly ever tastes as good, and it ends up being an indulgence without much pleasure. Lesson Learned.

C-Shock is now on the MAC website. I'm not so into this collection, because as the name implies, all of the colors are quite shocking.

I bought my mom her birthday gift (its tomorrow) from L'Occitane. She really likes lavender, so I got her the Hand & Foot Cream set that also includes a mini hand cream for her purse and the lavender candle. I was also able to take advantage of one of their promotions and she is getting a set that includes Citrus Verbana lotion, and Angelica Shampoo and Conditioner, all in a cotton pouch, plus the three samples you always get. I think my mom will really enjoy everything, which is great because she so rarely buys luxury beauty products.

Quick post today, busy busy at work and it is bedtime now.

So, RtS today was MAC Jardin Aires from Strange Hybrid. I love how the pigments just sit right on the lid and have serious sparkle to them. A very thin coat has major impact, so you don't have to wear gobs, or have the stuff migrating down your face. I like how this is a pretty golden color. I think I would like to try it with something darker underneath to warm it up a bit.

For RtS today I wore my favorite shadow. Champagne Truffle Shimmer from my BBCP. I love this one because it is a light beigey-brown with lots of golden shimmer. It just works with my light skin and blue eyes so well!!

I also got to go to my favorite store yesterday, Tiffany. I went to get my sister a graduation present, and of course, I got something for myself too. My bracelet matches the necklace that my husband got me for my college graduation last year. My sister's necklace matches her heart tag bracelet that she has had since she was 11.

I Need a Miracle

I messed up my RtS today. I thought I had used the Chocolate from my BBCP, so I used the Cocoa Shimmer Wash. Turns out that was the one I used and I haven't used Chocolate yet. Oops.

So there are two products I bought recently hoping for major results; Rejuvacote and LipFusion XL.

The Rejuvacote is amazing. My nails are really starting to grow. But the best part is that my nails aren't splitting. Never in my life have I had totally smooth nails. I will never be without this product. But there is a down side to it. Along with the nails, my cuticles are growing rapidly and they are thick. They are also getting dried out and cracking. I'll have to make sure I keep them well moisturized and cut back. All in all, I'm beyond happy with the results.

LipFusion XL, not so much. This product is supposed to produce lasting results, but I haven't seen even a hint of plumping. I'm really disappointed. The claims in this product were great and the price steep. I'll continue to use the tube to see if the results take a long time to come. Hopefully, it proves not to be a total waste.

Major Meltdown

Today being the hottest day of the year so far, it stands to reason that I was on a Roof for an hour. And during this hour, all of make-up just melted away.

When I finally caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I was horrified. With my hair up and yeah, no make-up, I looked like I do in the mornings. Except, oh yes, my eyeshadow was still there. So what is today's magical RtS? Why it's Chanel Ombre D'Eau in Coast. So...

This is my first Must Have Summer Product (a series I hope to continue). And since it's a must have, I found myself at the Chanel counter after work. I knew I wanted to get a light brown color (like my 2nd fav Wrap of yesterday) and I found that color in Sand. So my little chickadees, go get yourself over to your favorite Chanel counter and get the shadow that will keep you glam all summer. Since I told the sales girl how much I loved this product, she suggested their eyeliner that has the same staying power. They have 8 great colors, but I went with straight black. I'll fill you in on the Stylo Yeux Waterproof Liner when I try it.

Lastly, I couldn't leave without one of those awesome new glossimers I mentioned yesterday. It was hard to pick one, they are all so pretty, but I went with galactic, a clear/white-ish shade with multi-colored glitter.

Remember the earrings I mentioned Monday? I finally made my way over to get them, and they were on sale for $11.50, how awesome is that?!?!

Ocean's 13 opened tonight and it was great. I love Oceans 11 (watching it right now actually), its way up there on my list of favorite movies. 13 isn't as good as 11, but it is better than 12. It didn't have the great heist scenes, but I was laughing non-stop. And Oh my lord, the Banks Hotel is hideous.

Pink + Brown = Purple??

I decided to go for a pink and brown eye look today, but it didn't turn out that way. I used MAC Pink Freeze from lashes to brow. This is an awesome super frosty pink, really great for highlighting the brow bone. Then I put Smashbox Wrap on my lids. (PS its on sale for $12) This is my second favorite color, a light brown with shimmer. To me, with my complexion and coloring, this is the best color. Of course being a junkie, the perfect shade doesnt mean I use only it. It just means that it is my go to shadow, especially when I'm in a rush or not in the mood to play. However, putting my perfect brown over the frosty pink, made the weirdest shade of purple I have ever seen. I left it, it didn't really look bad, but it was nothing like I wanted it to turn out.

So I don't know if I have ever mentioned my job on here. I work for a really big Real Estate Development Company in the Design and Construction department. Tomorrow I get to go to one of the buildings I have been working on. I can't tell you how excited I am. I have been wanting to go out to the sites since I started. It is also awesome because I am starting to get a lot more involved in the projects.

It's just as exciting as the new Chanel lipglosses.

Feel the Burn

Last night was my first session with my personal trainer. I am officially declaring it the summer that I will *finally* lose the weight. So to make it super serious and to get good results, I felt that having a personal trainer was essential. We did some serous weight training (plus a really hard go at the treadmill) and my legs are killing me. My new work out plan is going to be: Mon and Wed - cardio, 15 minutes each on four different machines, Tues (w/ trainer) Thurs (w/o) cardio warm-up and cool-down with weight training.

As I start to make progress, I will keep everyone posted.

RtS. I used my new MAC Claire-de-Lune all over my lids and added a little Moth Brown in the crease. I don't know how anyone could not love these. They have great pigment quality in them. They have every shade under the sun, and everyone month they put out about 5 limited editions colors. The possibilities for color combos are endless. If you don't have one at all, go to Macy's, Nordie's, Bloomie's, whatever, and get one (but I bet you get more than that) My tip when it comes to shopping MAC: go to the deptartment stores over the MAC Stores. While the stores seem like the better option, all of the employees are MAC trained artists, and I find that I always get better service at the counter. The stores seem to get too crowded for the staff to handle.

I also wore my tendertone today. Mine smells like strawberry. For all of you that got one too, does your smell like strawberry? or another fruit that matches the color?

Box of Chocolates Part Deux

So I once again went for my Bobbi Brown Chocolate Palette this morning. I wanted to do a natural look, so I used bone and stone. Both of these colors are available individually all the time.

I'm never too happy with bone, it doesn't go on white enough for me, and stone is a pretty dusty brown color.

I also used a new-ish lipgloss today. mark. has yet again re-released the toute sweet liglosses; this time as hook-up squeeze tubes. I got Sugared Almond(#4), which was the color I got when they orginally came out. The color this time seems less light pink with gold shimmer, its darker now, and I don't know if I really like it anymore, it does smell the same though. mark. has really been a dissapointment lately. A year ago, I would have told you that I would be wearing and selling mark til the day I die, but now, I hardly like anything!!

My J. Crew order came last night, and I love love love their flip flops. The metallic pair is super cute and surprisingly comfortable. They are such a great dressy flip flop. And I see many more critter flip flops in my future. I can't believe how comfy they are, the way the strap hugs your foot and keeps the shoe on, and how supportive the bottom is. I'll never buy a pair of Old Navy ones again (expect to use for pedicures). My new shirt is coming tomorrow, can't wait!! I think I found my new favorite store.

RtS today has some serious glitter to it. I am wearing Lavender Unleased Diamond Lust from the Revlon Limited Edition Collection. All the shadows in this line have serious glitter in them. But the baby-fine good glitter. The color is also a really really pale lavender so the look has that icy-coolness. I like it all on its own with lots of black mascara (hmmm, seems that I like most of my shadows that way...) Bedroom Bronze and White Hot also look equally enticing.

Last week or so, WhoWhatWear did an article on Gold Hoops. I did a read and reject, because I am a full-blown studs only kinda girl. But on the shopping trip Saturday, a trip into BeBe made me do some second guessing. There was a super cute pair of gold hoops with a pink enamel stripe. I tried them on for fun, and thought "Ha,Ha I look so funny with shit dangling from my ears." But I keep thinking about them. They look super cute with the pink headband I got, and I can picture a really cute ensemble featuring those two accessores, a hot pink t-shirt and white capris. So now I am thinking of getting the earrings:

Big Shopping Day today:

Rock the Shadow: I wore mark. winkstick in demure. I made a mistake when I mentioned this product last week, I own demure, not innocent. Demure is the light beige color and innocent is the one with a pink tint to it. Demure is going into the trash though, a. because it is really close to the platinum I wore yesterday, which is better, and b. because I broke the stick.

The goods: At MAC, Kira and I checked out the new collections. Elaborate Lipglass from Moonbathe is a really pretty white gold sheer gloss. The lipsticks were a lot darker than I expected. Moonbathe lipglass is a very pretty sheer coral. The two blushes are ok, otherwordly is more of a bronzer and afterdusk is a shimmery plum. Sunstrip was ok, the waters seem cool, but I already have my Caudalie Beauty Elixir. Tendertones are great, they feel awesome, and there is a color for everyone. I got Claire de Lune shadow from Moonbathe, it is a really pretty peachy beige, so pretty with my eyes. I also got Tender Baby from Tendertones, it's a super cute light punchy pink, totally perfect for summer, especially since it has SPF 12 in it. Kira also got Clair de Lune, as well as Cosmic, and the Pucker Tendrtone.

We went for a peek in Coach, because how can a girl resist? I decided to treat myself to the small watercolor tote. I adore this print, and now I have a purse to match my flip-flops!!

Then over at American Eagle, I found the cutest plaid headbands.

After our shopping was done we went for Leaping Lemon Mani/Pedis. I used my new Below the Belt from the Essie Summer collection. I do love my whites, but this is too much!! It is liquid-paper city. I do think one coat would make otherwise sheer shades stand out though, so I will hang on to it.

After dinner, I know such a long day, Kira wanted to check out Marshall's because she needed a white blazer. I'm not a huge fan of Marshall's, I hate dealing with all the people in cramped aisles, digging through the racks in hope of something decent. But I found something beyond that today. Vineyard Vines skirts for $25!!!!! I would have bought one of each pattern, but they didn't have my size. What I was able to get is a medium pink t-shirt made with super soft pima cotton. They shirt was 50% off which is great, but not as good as those 80% off skirts, sheesh!

The hubs didn't come away empty handed either, he got a royal blue and a khaki Burberry polo.

Champagne on Ice

Kinda my look today. For RtS I did Laura Mercier Metallic Cream Eye Colour in Platinum - a peach champagne. It's a really beautiful color, love Ms. Mercier.
I'am also wearing my brushed gold and pearl 3-strand necklace, a cream silk shirt and white chinos, topped off with my baby pink patent heels and white coach bag.

And I was able to get my shirt from jcrew (pictured one post below) yesterday it was showing as sold out, but today it is back in stock!! I am beyond.

Looking forward to a weekend filled with glammy girlly goodness. I'm having lunch today with Kira. Tomorrow I have a haircut. After that I am meeting Kira at the mall so we can check out the three new MAC collections: Moonbathe, Sunstrip, and Tendertones. Reviews later this weekend. We'll also be doing mani/pedis.

Is the name of the NYC Sparkle Eye Dust I worse today for RtS. I love the cute container with a brush built right in. It makes me feel like I am putting on fairy dust. However, this pink does nothing for me. Super cute in the jar, drab on my lids. I think Kate would love to play with this one though.

Yesterday, I found a new blogger that I love!! Her blog is the new edition to my sidebar - The Musings of a Not So Desperate Housewive. Mrs. Not So Desperate writes wonderful, intersting entries AND she posts pics of what she wore that day. And let me say, NSD has killer clothes. They are simply to die for!!

Box of Chocolates

RtS for today are two shades from the Bobbi Brown Chocolate Palette. If you remember, this caused quite the frenzy last fall. It was also my first, major have to have it, sold out product. I scored mine on makeupalley, by trading a $50 sephora GC for it. And while it is great, and I do love it, it is not the holy grail of eye shadow palettes. I also think I love it more for it's status than substance.

So today, I used Frappe and Cocoa Shimmer Wash. Usually frappe gives my eyes a great dusty taupe color, today it went on lighter. Cocoa Shimmer is a great dark, but not too dark color; the shimmer it in helping to keep things bright.

I still have 5 colors to go in the palette.

Smashbox Freebies

Monday's and Today's RtS's were both Smashbox freebies. One from a Let's Do Lunch, and the other a spend $X get this free.

So Monday was Eye Shadow Single in Posh. This is lavender shade with grey undertones and an iridescent finish. It is a totally stand alone color, supplemented only by black liner and mascara. And it is not a goes with anything color. It would be much better for a night look, but since I don't really go anywhere at night, I make all my stuff work for day. So I wore this with my schmatas going to target, to give a little oomph to my other wise blah-tastic ensemble.

Today I used the Hollywood Premiere Color Compact, and I went for using the whole she-bang. The major Pro: Since I was running late, I did my base make-up (concealor, powder, liner, mascara) and hit the road. I used the compact to do all my color on the bus. The major Con: The colors pretty much suck. I used the highliter on my brow bone - didn't do much highlighting. Used the gold color on my lids - I like this one. Used the copper on my outer corners - too much red in it. Used the navy as a liner - I like. Used the blush - don't like. Fiddled with all three lip colors - disgusting. So is the gold shadow worth the compact?? Hell No!!!

Jane Iredale

Today's RtS are the Jane Iredale shadows I received from the first TestTube. The colors are natural, coffee, and maple. I used natural on the brow bone, coffee on the lid, and maple in the crease.

There's really nothing special about these. I can't tell what makes these mineral shadows any different from standard shadows. They have an OK amount of pigment, but there is a red/orange cast to the browns that I don't like. They also have no shimmer and fall flat on my eyes. They really don't do anything to make my eyes pop. Especially when I have the Bobbi Brown Chocolate Palette with better shades and shimmer!!

I never would have bought these on my own. I also tried to find a picture, but it seems they are no longer available. I think these are going into the "Give to Kate" bag.

Toki no Smoki

Today's RtS choice was the Smashbox Tokidoki Eye Shadow Quad in Celebrita. I used the white shade all over, the grey on my lids, the purple in the crease, and the pink in the corners.

What made me buy this compact was the artwork. I loved the mix of girly and punk, little flowers with black eye smiley faces, and the glam girl with tattoos (like me!!) I also loved (more than the cover) the little make-up fairy on the mirror. She reminds me of some sanrio cups I had as a girl. I also loved the four colors in the quad.

But they are very low pigmented, and therefore a huge let-down. This compact should make for some serious smokey eyes, but no matter what I do I can't get enough POP!! Especially with the purple and pink shadows. Especially, especially the pink, which is the biggest let down of all. I always skip that shade in this compact, and reach for MAC Pink Freeze. If this was in any old compact, it would go into the "Give to my lil sis" bag, but I can't let go of the compact, its way too cute.

Today is also a very exciting day for me work-wise, because from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, our office has summer hours, which means we get to leave at 1 on fridays!!!! YEAY!!!! Ok, back to the grind.

Wink, Wink

I've started off Rock the Shadow with mark. Winkstick in Heartfelt. I don't use this very often, so I thought it would be great to kick-off with a lessor used product.

mark. introduced the Winksticks (along with the Gleamstick lipsticks ) last fall. These products fit into the whole Hook-Up Line. Instead of being a tube with applicator like all hook-ups before it, these two products are twist-up sticks.

The creme sticks are tiny! Smaller than the width of a pencil and about 1 1/4 inches long. There are eight colors: coy - purple based, envious - emerald green, moody (shown) - light slate blue, glitzy - bronze, wealthy - deep bronze (mark says this is the most popular and wearable color) demure - I'm not sure, but I think it is pink, innocent -beige (i also have this one), and heartfelt - a deep beige/taupe color.

Medium bronze/taupe-y colors are my favorite. I like how they deepen the color of my eyelid without being totally obvious. I also like when they have shimmer, which this one does.

I have a handful of these colors in powder form, but i *think* this is my only creme in this color range.

Definately a product worth trying, especially since it is only $5.

Caudalie Scrub Trio

I just finished taking my nice, hot shower using all three of my new scrubs, and it was de-lish!! Each of the three, Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet, have a different texture and purpose, from top to bottom. Sauvignon is the finest grit and is meant for face, neck and decollete. The grit in this scrub never faded away, so I just kept scrub, scrub, scrubbing and my skin feels soo smooth. Merlot is medium grained, and the firming effects are best for arms and stomach. I didn't like how quickly the grit in this disintegrated. I didn't have enough time to get the product really rubbed into my skin. Cabernet, coarse grit, has slimming action meant for hips, butt, and thighs. The grit on this one lasted through all my scrubbing, and I could feel it really getting my blood flowing. I love how having all three in one set allows me to have this little scrub all over routine. I like it so much, I am going to try and make it a weekly ritual. Of all three scrubs, I would say Sauvignon is my favorite. The small grit is more densely packed, and would work head to toe.

Pamp-Le-Peau

My latest Sephora order included a deluxe sample of the new Guerlain fragrance Pamplelune. There are five fragrances in this new series: the former plus herba fresca, tutti kiwi, angelique-lilas, mandarine-basilic.

I DO NOT like the way this smells. Everytime I catch a whiff of myself, I smell stink. Seriously, I smell like a sweaty mess, and it is making me feel dirty all over. A nice hot shower is in order tonight. Then I can try out the caudalie scrub trio I bought that brought me this horrible scent.

On a better note, just like my Rock the Gloss challange, I am going to start a Rock the Shadow. I'll start tomorrow by using every single one of my eyeshadows (it should take roughly a month) with no repeats. I'll do my best to have daily postings filling you all in what color(s) I am wearing for the day.

If you are like me, and you can consider your make-up to be a wardrobe; like your closet, it needs pruning every season. Reasses what doesn't work for you; both what is past it's prime and can lead to pimples and infection, and what doesn't make you look your best; and throw them away!! I know it is hard, but it is worth. You know having a closet filled only with clothes that are in good condition and look good on you makes getting dressed a cinch. Well only having make-up in good condition and flattering colors makes putting it on, faster and more enjoyable, plus there aren't any midday moments on horror.

So do your own Rock the Shadow with me, or Rock whatever you most need to de-clutter. Post your comments on what you are wearing and what you have decided needs to go.

The No-Product Lip Enhancement

Yesterday, we had a little accident. My husband was tossing me the remote, and instead of catching it, the thing hit my in face. Right on my upper lip to be exact.

So, first the shock, then the blood, then the crying. But we're all right now.

What I am left with is a small scratch above my upper lip (that was mistaken for a lipstick smudge today. People - me? with make-up astray? I don't think so).
Also, my left upper lip is swoooolleeeen.

But, I kind of like it!! Now I know what a little bit of collagen would do for me, and while I always thought a little lip enhancement might be cool, I have just taken a big step towards considering my first injection. With all of the available fillers out there right at the derm's office, you know I'm going to wonder in sooner or later. I think I may have found my sooner.

So any recommendations for a good Doc in DC/NoVA?

So instead of jumping straight into the chair.::.gotta do my research first.::. I have purchased LipFusion XL.

The Home Front

You all know that I spend exorbitant amounts of $$$ on my beauty products. And this habit of mine has always been at the expense of my home.

You would think that trying to have a glamorous life includes having a glam home to be all glam in, right?? Well it does, but I'm having trouble making it a reality for myself.

But this weekend, I made some major progress.

#1 the big ticket big impact item(s): The hubs and I finally got nightstands!!! Previously I had been using a side table that was meant for our living room and he was using a plastic tote. Now we both have these awesome nightstands from target:

They have completely transformed our bedroom. Plus I know have a table in the living room to set my drinks on!!

#2 the little ticket but still big impact purchase: The farmers market near my house started on friday, and my main goal in going, (and for future weeks) was to get fresh flowers. I got these beautiful deep pink tulips because this was the last week they would be available this year. This also fueled my going to Ross to score some super cheap vases which I did: $3 for a bud vase, $4 for a small blue glass vase, and $10 for a large glass vase. I just love having fresh flowers in the house, esp. on my new nightstand!!

other things of note: I tried my new polish, Starter Wife, and it is just too sheer. It's one of those pinkish gloss things, and I really prefer pigment in my polishes. I think in a future order I'll try the other 2 pinks from the starting over collection.

I also got a blackberry this weekend. I am having tons of fun figuring out how to use it. Plus it works on the metro (goodbye sprint, hello verizon!!), which to me is the coolest part, second only to the fact that I can email!!

Summer Collection 2.0

The real Essie Summer Collection has been unveiled, and it isn't so great. Turns out the tasteful collection of pinks and reds that I thought was the collection is a promotional line for the USA Network's The Starter Wife.

Our real summer collection takes its inspiration from all the metallic seen on the runways this spring; but Essie did it oh so horribly. So unlike her!!

What we do not have to look forward to are: Click It or Ticket - metallic coral, It's a Cinch - metallic coral-pink, Loophole - chrome, Huckle Buckle - metallic purple (only acceptable if worn by Shannon while supporting her alma mater, TCU), and Chastity - a bright pink. This one actually isn't too bad, but if the metallic factor is too high....

The only saving grace is Below the Belt - a glaring white. Score! yet another one for me to obsess over.

It's a good thing that we have two new collections to satisfy our cravings this summer, b.c Buckle Up for Summer is a wreck!

100th Post!!!

Let's take a moment to celebrate my 100th post. Unfortunately, it comes at a time when I seem to be in a blogging slump. I'm just not getting any inspiration for witty bits to tell you all about.

But there was Tues Night. Me and Kiks (yes that’s Kira, I am renaming her) did a double header. First we went to the Momzillas Book Party thrown by Miss BabsieD on your right (Blog Roll!). The Author, Jill Kargman, has also co-wrote The Right Address and Wolve in Chic Clothing. I' thrilled that I now have a signed copy of her latest.

But the most awing part of the night were the rest of the women in attendance. I felt so plain and poor! These were the women Kargman writes about in her book. Perfect hair, makeup, nails, etc. and the clothes!! Designer’s all around. We are talking things I have only seen in print before, now right before my eyes. And I have to say, even the less than pretty ones still looked amazing. Most notable, a Chanel Chiffon Dress.

Then as we are leaving the venue: the Ralph Lauren store in Chevy Chase, we are handed our goodie bags. And what does it hold? Ralph Lauren Pure Turquoise fragrance! Oh, I also took home a linen cocktail napkin as a souvenir, don't tell.

Party Numero Duo was the Strange Hybrid Launch Event at the MAC Store in Georgetown. I was really drawn to Eye shadows in Rose Blanc and Seedlings, and both of the pigments. I took home Seedling, a great light smoky taupe, and Jardin Aires Pigment, a wonderfully sparkly golden color that just looks magical. I also got a brow pencil.::.at my latest brow wax, we discovered I have a hole.::. and a skin toned lip liner. I hate the look of a liner, but love the staying power.

I guess, since this is post #100, I should jam pack it with all kinds of beautiful goodness so here goes:

New purchases: Neutrogena Illuminating Microderm Cleansing Pads. A steal at $6.99 a box. I was expecting a $10+ price tag. You can really feel the exfoliation on these pads. My only complaint: a bit hard to keep on my fingers.

Boots Botanics Vitamin Recovery Mask: this is doing wonders to help heal my old pimples. It also stays creamy, so it’s great for wearing overnight.

I got my magnolia blossom perfume from B&BW for $5; holy bargain, batman!! I also picked up DL Vinyl Collection This Must Be Love and Fade to Black; haven't tried them yet. Also, Wexler Acne Spot Treatment, benzyl peroxide works so much better for me than salicylic acid.

Major Life-Changing Decision: I have taken off my fake nails, and am attempting to repair my nails and make them lovely. I'm doing this with the help of Rejuvacote, and when I start seeing results, we'll talk about them. I also used Essie It's In The Bag. This beautiful white with a hint of pink is a new fav.

And to round this post out: The Devil in the Junior League is one of the best books I have read this year. I am the total opposite of the main character, but I feel like I'm in her world and I want to be her. This is one of my must reads, and I am telling all my friends they have to read it.

Beauty Night Out

Thursday night, Kira and I attended the Beauty Night Out Event at the Embassy Suites on 22nd. We weren't entirely sure what was be going on, but we knew we were getting a gift bag and there would be free manis, pedis and massages.

The first thing we saw when we got there was the open bar sponsored by PINK Vodka. We both got flavored martinis and DAMN those things were strong. I took 2 sips and just left it. Inside the event, tables were set up by various companies, including spas and independents, beauty and accessories. There was also an houre d'avoure(sp?) station that had been pretty picked over. But I really enjoyed the canollis :)

There were five treatment booths set up, a hand scrub and massage, a back massage, a Moroccan mud facial, a makeover, and a $5 paraffin hand treatment. I did the paraffin, and we both did the hand scrub. My hands were silky smooth at the end of the night. There were a handful of independent jewelry and handbag designers, nothing fantastic.

But we did really like Belabumbum and Queen Bee Designs. Belabumbum was selling at amazing prices, we both got thongs for $4, and Kira got a cami set for $25. Queen Bee has beautiful necklaces, all chunky, natural stones, but the prices range from $65 on up, many in $100s, and we didn't want to spend that much that night.

The gift bag included the book Change Your Face Change Your Life, a special edition of New Beauty Magazine, L’Oreal Professional hair products, Bliss shower gel, Nutrisoda, and a few other samples.

It was a really nice event, and Kira and I enjoyed ourselves, but I was hoping for something more like the International Beauty Show that happens in New York once a year.

New Tubes

In my latest TestTube, I received a sample vial of Blinc Kiss Me Mascara, aka the tube mascara. This is the one that doesn't paint your lashes, it tubes them!! I don't love the look of this one. It is inky black, but my lashes didn't get all full and long like I love, and they also looked kind of hard. To take this mascara off, you just rub your eyes with warm water. And then, voila! you have stringy black things all over your face and hands. They are like body paint/peel-off face masks/peel off nail polish strands of black goo. Its not gross at all, just really funny. The best part is that you don't have any leftover mascara finding it's way to your towels or pillowcases, which is great, but it also doesn't migrate on your eyes, and therefore kills the whole bedroom eye look, which I adore.

So I will continue to use my little vial of peel-off mascara just for the fun factor of taking it off.

I also got my tube of Lola Ultimate Mascara, which got rave reviews on Meg's Makeup. I wanted to see how the product stood up on its own, and I am a little dissapointed. There was no WOW this morning. But let's take a step back here and remember that mascara doesn't make me happy unless it looks like I'm wearing falsies. I know someone is going to tell me to get DiorShow, which I have tried and do love, but let's also remember that I have trouble commiting to one product.

Back to the Lola, for those of you who don't have my extreme demands, I think this would be a great product. And next time I use it, I will wear primer underneath, and that my dear friends, will hopefully give me the over-the-top lashes I love.

Beauty and the Budget

If you have been with me since the beginning, you know that until August I had excusively been using mark products; part of the reason I started my blog to was to follow my reintroduction into the wonderful world of cosmetics.

I have to admit, and I'm sure you know, I went a bit wild. All the new products were just too alluring and I couldn't stop whipping out the plastic. Having my first real job, and an income that allowed me to go crazy, didn't help matters either.

But I've come to realize that I need discipline (something I'm not very good at), so at the suggestion of Shannon, I am giving myself a budget. This is only for products, my salon expenses are the same every month so I don't feel the need to include them since I don't get erratic and overzealous with those. I'll also allow myself special purchases outside the budget on a case by case basis: first exception, the super-powerful blow dryer my step-mom has that cut my drying time by 75% and made my hair look shiny and new.

To determine my budget, I averaged my spending over my last three pay periods, which was $190. I'm giving myself $150 a pay period. My point isn't really that I need to save a ton of money, but that I need to control what I buy, and think about how much I would really use the product or if it just looks pretty. Because that 20th pink lipgloss is getting a bit redundent.

on such a rainy day

Sorry it's been so long. I went away this weekend for my cousin's bar mitzvah and it was my birthday too!! Yeay, I'm 23 now!!!

Anywho, stepmamma and me decided to go spray tanning on saturday night so we would be nice and bronze for the party. She has been a few times before, so I got instructions from both her and the girl at the salon on what to do. Basically, you need to cover your cuticles with barrier cream, as well as a light layer inbetween your fingers and toes and on the tops and bottoms on your hands and feet. You also put up your hair in a shower cap, but leave your hairline exposed.

Then it's into the towers you go. We used the California Tan system, one tower sprays you, the other drys you. First you stand facing the spray tower for your front shot of color. The machine counts down from 5, and then it starts. So at 5 I started holding my breath in preperation. Then I heard some hissing, and was about to take a breath, when the real spray came out and I was hit with a freezing blast of tanner, all while I'm sputtering to keep holding my breath. Then you turn around and do it all again. So COLD!!! After the tanning is complete, you use the fan in the other tower to dry off. The fan was so light, I could barely feel it drying me. I also had to rub in the cream on my hands and feet. Once I was done, I could see an amazing natural, perfectly colored tan, and I was hooked. The only downside was that I felt really sticky. The next morning I woke up and my palms were orange. After rubbing my hands and feet, I forgot to wash my hands. I also saw that the top of my hands were all splotchy and my feet were super dark.

I think with a little practice, I could really get the hang of the perfect application, because the rest of me looked fab!!

Temptations: To Cave or not To Cave

Smashbox has a whole new line of lip enhancing glosses. The glosses moisturize and plumlp are seperated into 3 color categories: sheer, true and full. All of the colors look so pretty, and the tube is a sleek clear and black. The sheer shades come with brush applicators, and the true and full shades have velour doe foots. My favorites from each range are Pop - cool pink from sheer, Pout - baby doll pink from true, and 35MM - shimmery suede brown from full.

During lunch today, Shannon and I went to the stationary store around the corner from our office. We both love all the pretty paper and buy more than we can use. I firmly declared that I would not buy anything new until I used up a good deal of what I already have, unless of course I found something with a fleur de lis on it. Then two seconds later, I spot notecards with a gold fleur de lis, with envelopes with a fleur de lis lining. So yes, I caved and bought them. Oh, and they are Crane's.

L'Ovin L'Occitane

My erratic beauty habits; the spending, the complusion to try every new thing, the need to hoard and never throw away, have made me quite envious of those serene women who have their system of tried and true products and stick with it.

So in attempt to move myself in that direction, I have decided that all future everyday skincare purchases (I'm not including special treatments) will be either L'Occitane or Caudalie.

I just love how each of these brands stands behind using natural products, uses the natural scents of their ingredients and not perfumes, and oh, did I mention they are French? Plus, the packaging is so simple and elegent. And the names are pretty too.

My decision commenced in the purchase of the L'Occitane Olive Discovery Kit; sadly no longer available. It came with the face wash, face cream, and eye serum.

The face wash only takes a little bit to get a great lather. I can feel it taking away the make-up, dirt and impurities of the day without stripping my skin. The face cream is so luxurious; my skin feels so smooth after. The Olive Line is all about radiance, and my skin is looking very bright and clear.

I haven't formed an opinion on the eye serum yet. Last week, my eyes totally freaked out, got all puffy and had splotches of dry skin. Since the serum is a gel, duh! It didn't do much in the way of moisturizing. I was able to get a few samples of their Shea Eye Balm on my mall trip last week, and this has made all the difference. The puffiness and dryness underneath my eyes are gone. There is still a bit of a bump on my top lid, which was the worst spot, but it has gone down significantly and keeps getting better. I know I will soon be buying this, I am beyond pleased with the results.

I can't wait to continue exploring both of these lines. My next purchase will be the Caudalie Gentle Buffing Cream.

A Smelly Dilemma

What to do when a product that works well smells horrible...

Well I have two of these lemmings, but I can't throw them out.

I'm talking about the Neutrogena Acne Mark Fading Peel and Origins Modern Friction.

The Fading Peel smells like the musty towel that has been in the corner of the boys locker room all semester. The smell is quite atrocious, but I haven't physically gagged yet. A different story however for the Modern Friction. As water gets added to the product, the smell gets even more pungent. I cannot even use this in the shower, b.c I can no longer breathe and my eyes water. I don't know how to describe this stink, but it is gross. And I have actually gagged while using this product. Plus, if it even gets foamy around my eye area, it makes my eyes burn.

So why haven't I chucked these? Because they work!! The Fading Peel really does take away the dark spots that form after a pimple goes away and the modern friction leaves my skin so smooooth.

I know that this is the smell of the modern friction, but I'm wondering if I maybe just got a funky tube of the fading peel. any comments on that??

Also, any suggestions for products that work the same way but smell pleasant?
I will keep using these until I find replacements, because in this case beauty really does equal pain.

My Signature Shade

I've finally found a signature shade that I would be happy to have on my nails all the time. What makes it even more unique to me is that I came up with my own combo of colors. I'm layering limo-scene over ballet slippers. The ballet slippers helps to neautralize my nail bed and give a base of pink for the limo-scene. Doing this helps the pink in the limo-scene really come through. I find that limo-scene on its own can get a but silvery-white. I really am pleased with the result these two polishes give and I engcourage you to mix your favorite shades to best complement you.

And for all those divorcées, Essie's new summer collection is called Starting Over and includes 3 red and 3 pinks. I think the 2 highlights of this collection are Starter Wife - a sheer pink (the one I most want to try), and Wife Goes On - a true red.

Model Student

I wanted to tell you about this wonderful book I just read: Model Sudent by Robin Hazelwood

Hazelwood is a former model and Yale graduate, so one has to assume that part of this book is autobiographical even though it is fiction.

The book focuses on the modeling career of Emily Woods. Emily is a new model finding her way in 1988 Chicago. She's 18 and will be atteding Columbia University in the fall. The book follows Emily as she leaves Chicago for New York, finds a new agent, juggles classes, go-sees, and jobs, goes abroad, and is faced with many decisions that could make or break her career.

I'm not good at writing up books, but if you like Top Model, like to read, or simply are reading my blog, please go read this book, it was soooo good. Hazelwood made Emily so real, I couldn't stop reading to find out what happened next. I couldn't wait to finish it, but I also didn't want the book to end. I would love to see this get optioned and turned into a movie. Of course they would make the ending the Hollywood version, but I would be OK with that. Oh and I hope Ms. Hazelwood writes some more novels, she is an incredible author.

How many D's?

My wonderful company gave us the day off today for Good Friday, and it was the perfect oppurtunity for me to go dress shopping for my cousin's Bar Mitzvah next weekend. I knew my first stop had to be Nordstrom, and it worked out beautifully. I spotted a gorgeous turquoise chiffon number and went to try it on. The dress looked good, but my boobs were squashed. I figured I just needed the right bra, and the sales lady sent for the fitter from lingerie. After meausring me I was in for quite a shock. What I thought were 38D's turned out to be 34DD or 34DDD depending on the brand. That one really threw me. She went to get me some bras to try on, and they felt so different. She reminded me that they will break in after a few wears, and I think they will give me the support I need and the clean lines I desire. This definitly helped the dress fit better, and I also realized that I needed the straps taken up as well. Add to that the high-waisted Spanx power panties I bought to complement the dress and I did some serious damage on my gold card. **that's almost my dress. Mine is a tank, not halter, and there are two swaths of fabric draping from the center of the bust.

I also hit the 12 for $15 tart sale at yankee candle. I got country linen, clean breeze, 2 buttercreams, 2 tahitian tiare flower, vera cruz vanilla, vanilla oak, vanilla cupcake, white chocolate mint, home sweet home, and sand & surf. I also got an electric tart burner to help keep my home smelling yummy all day.

For dinner tonight I made Champagne Chicken from pg 174 of French Women Don't Get Fat. It was so juicy and delicious (i just sang fergilicious as my spell check on that one). I also made the cooked pairs, pg 114, but I found that I don't really like pears.

Mascara Mishap

I was starting to run really late this morning, so I stopped doing my make-up half-way through, and grabbed my new smashbox red-carpet pallete (the freebie I blogged on last week) some lip gloss and ran. Once I got on the bus, I whipped out my make-up bag to finish the job, and while applying eye-liner, I realized that I had no mascara on me. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit. If there is one thing I can't face the day without it is mascara. If my whole face was done, and the only thing I was missing was mascara, I couldn't deal. Anything else missing and I would be fine, but not my mascara. In my bout of depression, I just shoved my stuff back in my bag, and then dug out my prescription so I could get the opening hour of the CVS around the corner: 7am - we're back in business. So yes. straight from the metro, I headed for CVS. I picked up Maybelline Define-a-Lash Washable Mascara, because the bright green tube caught my eye, it claimed not to clump (i also did not have my comb) and it was on sale for $4.99. So it got the job done, but this mascara isn't so great. This was one of those new koosh-ball looking wands. The wand was so flexible my lashes were actually beating it away! It took some serious hand dexterity to get the brush to glide through my lashes. It didn't leave clumps, but it did bunch my lashes together, and the overall effect wasn't as bold as I normally wear. I like thickening mascaras and this isn't it. But for the price of a venti skim latte, I still got my morning fix.

I have been an avid reader of Meg's Makeup since this summer, and I am so excited that I will soon get to review some products as well. If you haven't checked out Meg's site already, go read it now. The focus of this site is to review products in the same way you would tell your girlfriends about your favorite new find. But this way you get a bunch of opinions, which is great, because if you are like me, your friends are almost your clones, but I digress. Leopard Skin & Scented Kisses

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Too Faced Pink Leopard Bronzer. I was a little bummed that I just about a smashbox product that is very similar. This multi-toned bronzer uses the classis leopard print to have bronze, golds, and pinks all swirled together. Too Faced says "Creates a glorious skin brightening, all over glow with swirls of skin illuminating bronze, fawn, and golden pink pigments that mimic the exact shade of naturally tanned skin. Look like you just got back from an African Safari with this skin-perfecting combo. Being sexy has never been more fun! MEOOOOW!!"

And then I found one of my favorite perfumes in a lip gloss duo. Vera Wang Princess now comes in a double ended tube, roller-ball perfume on one end, bright sparkly pink gloss on the other. This is the perfect touch-up tool

MAC-in It

Thursday night, Jessica, Shannon and I took a trip over to Macy's and went wild at MAC. We each got a make-over and some great products to take home. We also ran into Julia from AATP and her friend. I love talking make-up with Julia, and she always has interesting tips that I never thought of. She also helped Jessica and me pick out somethings. For it me, it was the need for a liquid concealor instead of a primer to keep my eyeshadow bright and fresh looking all day. For Jessica, it was a soft gold shadow in the form of Amber Lights, and it really looked great on her. I also picked up Golden Olive pigment and Perky lipglass from the Balloonacy collection and Cushy White from the new plushglasses. I wasn't feeling the liners. The black didn't have enough pearl in it to make it standout from the standard black so I passed on it.

Time for me to rave about the plush glass. I have never been a fan of plumpers. Most are cinnamon-based and I hate the spicy tingly feeling, it hurt me. I also hated how it made my lips so red and raw looking. But not the plump glass. This was more of a minty tingle, which I love! and there was no redness. The color is a clear with a bit of pearl, and my lips stayed super light all day. I didn't wind up with crazy big lips, just a bit of umph for normally pretty decent ones. This is a must buy.

And while at Macy's, I meandered into the shoe section to get my pink Palm Beach beauties. The tragedy, they were out of my size. But I also saw another pair on sale, that they did have. My pink shoes are coming from zappos on monday.

I received the MOR lip gloss that I won today, the flavor I got is Gelato. Mmmm Gelato.... The packaging is the cutest 50s-bakery style lavender tin, and the gloss is light and sweet. I also got a coupon for free shipping and the line is packed with awesome products. Chinoiserie has the most beautiful floral packaging that would look fabulous on any girls vanity. Glitterati has really pretty glosses, body shimmers and gorgeous cut glass perfume bottles. I'd love to get some samples of these. And Provincial has really elegant glass bottles. 3 Cool Products

#1 - Light Up Lip Gloss: As seen in In Style Mag, the newest revolution in lip gloss involves mini lights in the cap. Three companys have put out these glosses, ModelCo, Liparazzi, and Victorias Secret. VS's version isn't up on the site yet. Both ModelCo and Liparazzi have 5 colors, both have a clear gloss. The ModelCo shades seem more subdued and universally flattering, while the Liparazzi's are more vibrant. Plus the ModelCo has a brush applicator versus the doefoot for Liparazzi, and brushes always win in my book. So I am going to go for Pink Sea Shell by ModelCo, pictured here.

#2 - Sparkle Eye Dust by N.Y.C. I found this cool loose eyeshadow in my cousin Gina's makeup case. This cute shadow is in a spill proof container with a built in brush. It feels so playful, and really makes putting on your makeup fun. Plus it is only $3.99. I got 14 Karat Pink and Champagne.

#3 - Neutrogena Acne Mark Fading Peel - I have been stalking every store that carries skin care since this product came out a year ago, and I finally found it at Giant today. If you have been hunting too, it is in an orange and white box. I've always thought the worst thing about a break-out is the mark it leaves after, hence my hunt for this. I was really dissapointed by the smell, it was nasty and musty and totally gross. A fresh citrus would have been great. It also has a light exfoliater in it. After one application it is hard to tell how well it works, but after a few uses, I will be reporting on how well it cleared my skin.

Balloon-itic

Oh yes, MAC Balloonacy is now up on the website, and while I thought making a list of 40+ lippies would prevent me from buying anymore for a while, that just doesn't seem to be the case. Lipglass in perky is looking pretty good. But to be fair on my part, the only other lavender lip color I have is Opal lustreglass, which is pretty sheer and works better as a top coat. We will just have to see how it looks on me when I hit the stores.

The other item I want to try is the softsparkle eye pencil. The black, purple, and white-gold colors all look awesome, so I will be taking those for a test run as well. The khaki color just isn't speaking to me.

Some other cool products:
Pigment: two purples, one mid-tone, one very pale, plus a green look great, and will really pop for spring.
Nail Laquer: if you just can't get enough of the black polish trend, nocturnelle, looks like a really nice creamy black.

Thursday Shopping

Thursday I went to have my nails done before going out of town for a long weekend. I have mixed feeling about the girl who did my nails this time. She is really great at getting the length and shape I like, but she is very heavy-handed with the drill, on top of that she was rushing because the salon was very busy. Needless to say, my nails look great, but I have a sore spot on my pinky. I also used Mini How High, which I really like, very clean bright light pink.

After that, I went next door to Sally to get a pair of Tweezerman Tweezers, the best on the market. I had trouble finding them, and when I asked the girl where they were, she was all "But they are so expensive" I was like "yes, I know this, but they are worth it". I couldn't believe the sales girls were so clueless about their products and don't know the value behind these tweezers. Great way to make a sale, girls!!

Finally, I hit up B&BW. I had a coupon for a free signature product with purchase. For my freebie, I got Magnolia Blossom Body Spray. This scent really surprised me, I'm not that into florals, but this one is amazing; clean and delicious. I couldn't get enough of smelling myself. It also reminds me of my godmother, so not only is it wonderful, but it has a great familiar smell of a person I love. I also got a Fresh Linen candle, again, my love of clean, fresh scents. The new temptation line is being previewed with 4oz 3-in-1's. There are 9 scents in all, two are re-releases from the fall, cinnamon bun heaven and pecan passion, the pp is to die for. I got Melon Cooler, Frozen Daquiri, Orange Freeze, and Iced Tea Twist (which smells exactly like lipton iced tea mix) the others were peach, banana, and apple.

To go with all my new hand creams, i got the True Blue Spa Beauty Queen Wave gloves. They are just like the bliss gloves that have a gel lining to maximize your lotions, but these are half the price. And lastly I got the super-cute orange and pink striped tote. This will make a great beach bag, and might also be good for toting around all my crap to work. I have this cute little orange Juicy Couture bag with gold hardware that my mom got me last year that I have never worn. I will definitly be using it this year, and the tote will match really well if I choose to wear them together.

New Things on My Radar

i just finished reading a great book Alligators, Old Mink, and New Money: One Woman's Adventures in Vintage Clothing. I can't even tell you how bad this book made me want to rush right out to the nearest vintage store. Hopefully, I will soon be able to do some serious vintage shopping. But tonight, I bought a gorgeous Gray Silk Brocade crop top from the 1940's on fashiondig that has a floral print of what looks like large roses. I will definitly post a picture once I get it, after I bought the top, the picture went >poof< off the site. You can also check out Alison and Melissa's (the authors) site at hooti couture.

After seeing the review on Meg's Makeup, I can't wait to get my hands on Lola The Ultimate Mascara, it just sounds so silky and luxurious.
